Appointment of Volunteer Officers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased
to the under-mentioned promotions and
appointments, viz. :-

In the New Zealand Volunteer Force.
Captain David Macrorie, Invercargill Volunteers, to
be Major. Date of commission, 13th September,
1878.

In the Napier Engineer Volunteers.
Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Lambert, New Zealand
Militia, to be Honorary Colonel. Date of com-
mission, 5th October, 1878.

The Rev. De Berdt Hovell to be Honorary Chaplain.
Date of commission, 5th October, 1878.

In the Greymouth Rifle Volunteers.
Lieutenant George Simpson Smith to be Captain.
Date of commission, 20th September, 1878.

In the Wellington City Rifles.
John McIntosh to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 8th October, 1878.

In the Auckland Grammar School Artillery Cadets.
