Auckland Highways Act brought into operation within
the Kaukapakapa Highway District.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the eighth and fifteenth sections
of an Act of the Superintendent and Provincial
Council of the Province of Auckland intituled "The
Highways Act, 1874," and of "The Abolition of Pro-
vinces Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby bring the said "Highways
Act, 1874," into operation within the Kaukapakapa
Highway District, created and constituted by notifi-
cation under my hand of even date herewith. And
I do hereby appoint the first meeting of ratepayers
of the said district to take place at the Public Hall,
Kaukapakapa, in the Provincial District of Auck-
land, on Friday, the twenty-second day of February,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, at the
hour of twelve o'clock noon; and I appoint Frank
Dye, Esquire, to be Chairman of such meeting.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-eighth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

Altering Place of Sitting of District Court at Timaru.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power in that be-
half enabling me, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that a
sitting of the District Court of the Timaru and
Oamaru District shall be held at Timaru, in the Odd
Fellows' Hall, Barnard Street, on Friday, the first
day of February next, for the despatch of Civil
business only, instead of at the Mechanics' Institute
as fixed by warrant bearing date the thirteenth day
of February last past.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirtieth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.

Returning Officer and Polling-places under "T
Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872," appointed.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING.
K NOW ye that in exercise and pursuance of the
powers vested in me by "The Canterbury
Roads Ordinance, 1872," and "The Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constan-
tine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
ARTHUR MAKEIG
to be the person by and before whom the first
election of Members of the Board of the South
Rakaia Road District, in the County of Ashburton,
shall be conducted.
And I do hereby appoint the South Rakaia Dis-
trict Road Board Office, the Post Office at Barrhill,
and the Woolshed at Drayton to be the polling-places
for the said district.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirty-first day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities vested in me by "The Rating Act, 1876,"
I understand by the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby appoint the persons named in the Schedule hereto to be the Judges of the Assessment Courts
for the districts placed opposite their names.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirtieth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.
