and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of
the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this thirty-first

Altering the Limits of the Wairau Gold Field.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by clause three of "The Gold Fields
Act, 1866," the Governor is empowered from
time to time, by Proclamation, to constitute and
appoint any portion of the colony to be a gold field
under the provisions of the said Act, and the limits
of such gold field from time to time to alter as
occasion may require:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the limits of
the Wairau Gold Field, in the Provincial District of
Marlborough:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do, by this Proclamation, appoint that the boundaries
mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall henceforth
be the limits of the Wairau Gold Field aforesaid,
instead of the boundaries defined in a Proclamation
under the hand of Arthur Penrose Seymour, Esquire,
Executive Officer for the Provincial District of
Marlborough, in the Colony of New Zealand, bear-
ing date the twenty-third day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Marl-
borough bounded towards the South and East by
Ward's Pass Stream, from the saddle called "Ward's
Pass" to its junction with the River Goulter; thence
by the north-western boundary of Mount Patriarch
Run to Mount Rintoul; thence by the north-eastern
boundary of said run, from Mount Rintoul to the
north-western angle of the North Bank Run; thence
by the northern boundary of that run to the western
boundary of the Hillersden Cattle Run; thence by a
right line to Quartz Creek, at the most northern
angle of the Quartz Run; thence by Quartz Creek
to Bartlett's Creek; thence by Bartlett's Creek and
the north-western boundary of Langley Dale Run to
the most northern angle of Langley Dale Run;
thence by a right line to the north-western angle of
Langley Dale Run No. 2; thence by the northern
boundary of that run and surveyed sections in Ona-
malutu Valley to the north-western corner of Section
numbered 134, Onamalutu Valley; thence by a line
bearing North 47Β° East magnetic to a point one mile
distant from the trunk line of road through the
Kaituna Valley; thence by a right line bearing North
magnetic to the watershed between the Onamalutu
and Kaituna Valleys: thence towards the North and
West by the watershed between the Onamalutu and
Kaituna Valleys to the summit of the range between
the Wairau and Pelorus Valleys; thence by that
summit to the boundary of the provincial district;
thence by that boundary to Ward's Pass Saddle: save
and excepting all freehold lands, leasehold lands,
surveyed sections, and land held under depasturing
license within the aforesaid boundaries.

Authority to charge Tolls on the Dray Road up
Lankey's Creek, Inangahua, Nelson South West
Gold Fields.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and
authorities enabling me in that behalf, under
"The Gold Fields Act, 1866," and of all other
powers so enabling me, I, George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorize and
permit Alexander Ross and William John Sunder-
land, both of Inangahua, in the Nelson South
West Gold Fields, to construct and occupy the
dray road described in the First Schedule hereto,
for a period of five years, to be computed from the
first day of October, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven; and do also authorize the said
Alexander Ross and William John Sunderland, in
respect of the said road, to obtain payment from
all persons using such road of the tolls or sums of
money set forth in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that dray road, of the width of half a chain,
commencing on the Inangahua River, and following
Lankey's Creek and a tributary thereof, and ex-
tending in a northerly direction about a mile and
a half to land applied for by the said Alexander
Ross and William John Sunderland for coal mining
purposes.
SECOND SCHEDULE.

cember, one thousand eight hundred and
