Appointing Karehana Tahau Trustee under "The
Maori Real Estate Management Act, 1867."

NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-seventh day of November, 1877.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Maori Real Estate Manage-
ment Act, 1867," (hereinafter called "the said
Act,) it is enacted that if any title to or interest in
any hereditaments shall accrue to any Maoris, who
or any of whom shall be infants, lunatics, or under
legal disability, it shall be lawful for the Governor
in Council, if he think fit, to order that such here-
ditaments, or any part thereof or interest therein as
shall to the Governor in Council be shown to belong
to such infant, or lunatic, or other person under legal
disability, shall be vested in trustees, as the Governor
in Council shall think fit:

And whereas by an order bearing date the seventh
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, under the hand of Theophilus Heale,
Esquire, Judge of the Native Land Court, under the
seal of the said Court, it was ordered that a memorial
of the ownership of Ripeka Kaumoana and others to
the land and hereditaments described in the Schedule
hereto be inscribed on the Court rolls:

And whereas the said Ripeka Kaumoana is an
infant under the age of twenty-one years, and it is
expedient that Karehana Tahau be appointed trustee
under the said Act, on behalf of the said Ripeka
Kaumoana.

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the Colony, in exercise and in
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the said Act, doth hereby order that the interest
and share of the said Ripeka Kaumoana in the land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be and remain
vested in

KAREHANA TAHAU,
as Trustee, within the meaning and for the purposes
of the said Act, for the said Ripeka Kaumoana during
her minority.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Wellington, containing by admeasurement one
hundred and three (103) acres and thirty-three (33)
perches, more or less, situate at Whanganui, in the
District of Whanganui, being called or known by
the name of Poutama. Bounded towards the South-
west by the Rakato Block 1140 links, 610 links, 793
links, and 253 links, the Ohakari Stream, again by
the Rakato Block 745 links and 366 links, and by a
line 780 links; and on all other sides by the Wha-
nganui River.
