Provisional Reserve for Educational Purposes in the
Provincial District of Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of "The Waste
Lands Administration Act, 1876,"
it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time
to time to make out of any waste lands of the Crown
provisional reserves for educational purposes of a
public character, in manner as in the said section is
set forth:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the authority vested in
me by the above-named Act, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the parcel of land described
in the Schedule hereto annexed is provisionally re-
served and set apart for educational purposes of a
public character, subject to the terms and conditions
of the aforesaid twelfth section of the above-named
Act.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement ninety (90) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
two hundred and thirty-seven (2237) in red. Bounded
towards the Southward by a road line for a distance
of about forty (40) chains; towards the South-east
by the north-west boundary line of Improvement
Pre-emptive Right G, on Run 387, Class 2, for a
distance of about three (3) chains; towards the
North-east by Section number twenty-six thousand
seven hundred and forty-eight (26748) for a distance
of about thirty-four (34) chains, also by Section
number twenty-seven thousand five hundred and
seventy-four (27574) for a distance of about six (6)
chains; towards the North-west by the latter section
for a distance of about twenty-five (25) chains; and
towards the Westward by Section number twenty-
eight thousand three hundred and ninety-four
(28394) for a distance of about twenty-four (24)
chains; as the same is delineated on the plans de-
posited in the Provincial District Survey Office,
Christchurch.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member or
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
this thirtieth day of October, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-seven.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Town of Queenstown proclaimed a Borough under
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865,"
to be a borough constituted under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from
a day to be named in such Proclamation; subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned: And whereas the Town of Queenstown,
in the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the
places specified in the said Third Schedule, and a
petition has been presented to His Excellency the
Governor by fifty-three of the ratepayers of such
town praying him to constitute such town into a
borough under the said *"Municipal Corporations
