Alteration of the Boundaries of the Borough of Napier.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," it is enacted that the Governor may
at any time, upon the petition of the Mayor and
Council of a borough, by a Proclamation publicly
notified, alter the boundaries of a borough so as to
include therein any part of the foreshore or any land
reclaimed from the sea adjacent to such borough, or
any land which ought reasonably to be included in
the borough: And whereas the Mayor and Council
of the Borough of Napier have petitioned me to alter
the boundaries of the said borough, so as to include
therein the piece of land described in the First
Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said
Borough of Napier are altered so as to include in
such borough the piece of land described in the First
Schedule hereto, and that henceforth the said borough
shall be bounded as set forth in the Second Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULES.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land situate in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Hawke's Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand,
containing by admeasurement two acres and sixteen
perches, more or less. Bounded towards the North-
west by Carlyle Street, in the Town of Napier, five
hundred and forty-six links and four hundred links;
towards the North-east by the Town Hall and Court-
house Reserve, in the said Town of Napier, six hundred
and fifty-six links; and towards the South by the
railway line, one thousand five hundred and fifteen
links.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

All the land known as the Town of Napier, except
that portion of the town which is situated on Meanee
Spit, the boundaries whereof are:—Commencing at
the Pilot Station, following the sea-beach in an
easterly direction to the point of the Ahuriri Bluff,
rounding the Bluff, and proceeding along the sea-
beach to the southern extremity of the Town of
Napier; there it crosses at the southern boundary of
Section No. 586 to the Inner Lagoon, following the
Lagoon by Wellesley Road, the railway, and Hyder-
abad Road, to Pandora Point; thence in a straight
line to the beacon on the most westerly point of
Maori Island; thence in a straight line to the start-
ing point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of October, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven.
