Setting apart Lands in Otago for Agricultural Leases.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the thirty-third section of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866, it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor to cause Crown Lands situate within a gold field to be selected and set apart for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and therefore:
And whereas the lands described in the Schedule hereto are Crown Lands subject to be dealt with under the provisions of the said thirty-third section of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” and it is deemed expedient to set the same apart for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and therefore:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby select and set apart for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and therefore, the lands described in the Schedule hereto, and do fix the fourteenth day of November next ensuing as the day on which the said lands shall be open for application.
SCHEDULE.
ALL those parcels of land in the Provincial District of Otago, situated in the Shotover District, being Sections numbered respectively twenty-five (25), containing seventy-four (74) acres one (1) rood and thirty-one (31) poles, twenty-six (26) sixty (60) acres, and ninety (90) twenty (20) acres one (1) rood, all of Block seven (VII.); Section six (6) twenty-eight (28) acres two (2) roods and twenty (20) perches, eighty (80) seventy-six (76) acres, eighty-one (81) thirty-nine (39) acres and thirty-two (32) poles, eighty-two (82) twenty (20) acres three (3) roods and eight (8) poles, all of Block eight (VIII.); be all the aforesaid areas more or less.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Town of Cromwell proclaimed a Borough under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876.”

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation, declare any of the several places specified in the Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal Corporation has been established under the provisions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago intituled “The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” to be a borough constituted under the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” from a day to be named in such Proclamation; subject, however, to certain conditions in the said section mentioned: And whereas the Town of Cromwell, in the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the places specified in the said Third Schedule, and a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor by fifty-one of the ratepayers of such town praying him to constitute such town into a borough under the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” and such petition was, on the fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, publicly notified, and no petition from an equal or greater number of such ratepayers was presented to his Excellency within two months after such public notification praying him not to assent to the prayer of such first-mentioned petition:
