requiring to take the land described in the Schedule
hereto, for the purpose of making a new street
one hundred links wide, leading from the northern
side of Manners Street, in the City of Wellington, to
the foreshore of the Harbour of Port Nicholson, have
laid before me the memorial referred to by section 25
of “The Public Works Act, 1876,” praying me to
declare, by Proclamation, that such land is taken
for such purpose :
And whereas it appears to me that all things
required by the said “Municipal Corporations Act,
1876,” and “The Public Works Act, 1876,” to
be done and performed to authorize the taking of
such land, have been done and performed, and it
is expedient to declare that such land is taken for
the purpose aforesaid :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Acts,
and of any other power and authority enabling me
in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken
by the Council of the said Borough for the purpose
of making such new street as aforesaid ; and that
from and after the twenty-second day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, the
said land shall become vested in fee-simple in the
Mayor, Burgesses, and Citizens of the City of Wel-
lngton, discharged from all mortgages, charges,
claims, estates, and interest of what kind soever,
for the purpose of making the same into such new
street as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing one (1) rood and
twenty-four (24) perches, and being part of a
Public Reserve lying between Town Sections two
hundred and fifteen (215) and two hundred and
sixteen (216) on the plan of the City of Wellington.
Commencing on the Westward at a point measured
thirty-six (36) links from the point at which the
eastern boundary line of Section two hundred and
fifteen (215) touches Manners Street, and extend-
ing from such commencing point North 8° 34′, four
hundred (400) links ; thence Easterly along the
northern boundary of the said reserve, one hundred
and two and a half (102½) links ; thence Southerly by
a line parallel to the western boundary, four hundred
and three (403) links, to Manners Street, and thence
one hundred and three (103) links along Manners
Street to the commencing point.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom ; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland ; a Member of
Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy
Council ; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George ; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same ; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House at Wellington,
this twenty-second day of August, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-seven.

borough constituted under that Act may take any
land within the borough for any of the purposes of
that Act in the manner provided by the Second Part
of “The Public Works Act, 1876:” And whereas
the Council of the Borough of the City of Wellington,
requiring to take the land described in the Schedule
hereto, for the purpose of making a new street, one
hundred links wide, leading from the northern side of
Manners Street, in the City of Wellington, to the

(211), one hundred and six and a half (106½) links ;
thence Southerly by a line parallel to the western
boundary, five hundred (500) links, to Manners Street,
and thence one hundred and six and a half (106½),
links along Manners Street to the commencing point.
