of the Borough of Napier, ordain as follows, that is
to say,-

  1. So much of the by-law numbered three, and
    intituled " By-law of the Council of the Borough of
    Napier, made under Section 186 of 'The Municipal
    Corporations Act, 1867,' being a By-law to provide
    for the better rule and government of the Borough
    of Napier," as relates to the keeping of goats within
    the limits of the Borough of Napier, is hereby
    repealed.
  2. From and after the date of this by-law coming
    into operation, it shall not be lawful for any person
    or persons to keep any goat within the limits of the
    Borough of Napier, unless on land enclosed in the
    manner provided by "The Municipal Corporations
    Act, 1867," 13th Schedule, Part IX., section 4.
  3. No person shall make or cause any unnecessary
    obstruction in or upon the roadway or footpath of
    any street or private street, by allowing any vehicle
    or animal to remain upon or across the same, or by
    placing thereon any goods or material of any kind,
    or shall fail to remove such obstruction when thereto
    required.
  4. It shall not be lawful for any person to drive
    any horse or horses loose through or upon any
    public street or thoroughfare within the Borough of
    Napier.
  5. Any person offending against any provision of
    this by-law, shall, for every such offence be liable to
    a penalty not exceeding £5.

A BY-LAW TO PREVENT CATTLE STRAYING WITHIN
THE BOROUGH OF NAPIER.

By-law of the Council of the Borough of Napier, made
under Section 186 of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867."

IN pursuance of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1867," Part XIII., section, Council of
the Borough of Napier ordain as follows, that is to
say,-

Whereas injuries have happened, and may here-
after happen, to persons and property by the straying
of cattle within the borough, and it is desirable that
provision should be made to prevent a continuance
of such injuries: Subject to, and without prejudice
to any law or regulation in force respecting any of
the classes of animals under the head of cattle, it
shall not be lawful for any person to keep or depas-
ture any cattle within the limits of the borough,
except within an enclosure. Any person offending
against this by-law shall, for every such offence,
forfeit a sum not exceeding £5. The word "en-
closure" shall mean a place enclosed by a substantial
fence.

Passed by the said Council, this 4th day of
December, 1876.

BY-LAW No. 6.

PUBLIC MEETINGS AND AMUSEMENTS.

A By-law of the Council of the Borough of Napier,
made under Section 186 of "The Municipal Corpora-
tions Act, 1867."

IN pursuance of the 186th section of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Council of
the Borough of Napier ordain as follows :-

  1. The registration of any hall or other building
    required to be registered under Part VI. of the 13th
    Schedule of the said Act shall be in force from the
    date thereof until the 31st day of December next
    ensuing, and may be renewed on application at the
    Town Clerk's Office, not later than the 15th day of
    December, previous to its expiring.
  2. There shall be payable on every such registra-
    tion and renewal a fee of £1.
  3. Notice of the suspension or cancellation of any
    registration shall be given by delivery to the occupier
    of the registered premises, or leaving for him at or
    upon such premises a notice in writing of the fact of
    such suspension or cancellation, and of the time from
    which the same has taken or is to take effect, signed
    by the Town Clerk.

Passed by the said Council, this 4th day of
December, 1876.
