Town of St. Kilda proclaimed a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from
a day to be named in such Proclamation: subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned: And whereas the Town of St. Kilda,
in the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the
places specified in the said Third Schedule, and a
petition has been presented to his Excellency the
Governor by fifty-seven of the ratepayers of such
town praying him to constitute such town into a
borough under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and such petition was, on the second
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, publicly notified, and no petition
from an equal or greater number of such ratepayers
was presented to His Excellency within two months
after such public notification praying him not to
assent to the prayer of such first-mentioned peti-
tion:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all powers
and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that, from the second day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, the said Town of St. Kilda shall be a borough
constituted under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and shall be called the Borough of St.
Kilda; and that the boundaries of such borough shall
be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Province of Otago,
in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by ad-
measurement four hundred and fourteen (414)
acres, more or less, comprising the Private Town-
ships of Musselburgh, and St. Kilda, and Forbury
Park, being Applications numbered respectively
seventy-five (75) and one hundred and eighteen
(118), and part of Application numbered twelve
(12), Block twelve (XII.), Dunedin and East Taieri
District, and Sections numbered respectively fifty-
one (51), fifty-two (52), fifty-three (53), fifty-four
(54), fifty-five (55), fifty-six (56), fifty-seven (57),
fifty-eight (58), fifty-nine (59), sixty (60), sixty-one
(61), sixty-two (62), sixty-three (63), sixty-four (64),
sixty-five (65), sixty-six (66), sixty-seven (67), sixty-
eight (68), sixty-nine (69), seventy-nine (79), eighty
(80), eighty-one (81), eighty-two (82), eighty-three
(83), eighty-four (84), eighty-five (85), and parts
of Sections numbered respectively fifty (50) and
seventy (70), Block seven (VII.), Town District,
together with Sections numbered respectively six (6)
and seven (7), Block seven (VII.), Otago Peninsula
District. Bounded by a line commencing at the
northern angle of the said Section numbered 69,
and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along
the Anderson's Bay Road, one thousand five hun-
dred and fifty (1550) links; thence along the north-
eastern boundary of the said Section numbered 70,
six hundred and sixty (660) links; thence in a
north-easterly direction along the north-western
boundaries of the said Sections numbered respec-
tively 80 and 79, nine hundred and sixty-nine (969)
links; thence in a south-easterly direction along
the north-eastern boundaries of the said Sections
numbered respectively 79 and 7, three thousand and
ninety-five (3095) links, to road line skirting the
Sandhills; thence in a south-westerly direction
along that road line, and intersecting the said
Application numbered 12, eleven thousand nine
hundred and sixty (11960) links, to the Forbury
Road; thence in a north-west and northerly
direction along the Forbury Road two thousand
seven hundred and fifty-six (2756) links, to the Bay
View or District Road; thence in a north-easterly
direction along the Bay View or District Road nine
thousand eight hundred and fifty (9850) links, to the
starting point; be all the aforesaid linkages a little
more or less.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
second day of August, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Defining the Middle Line of part of the Railway
from Amberley to the Bluff (Waipahi District).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and twenty-
second section of "The Public Works Act,
1876," it is enacted that every railway shall be made
only under the authority of a special Act, which shall
state as nearly as may be the line of the railway and
the two termini thereof; and by the one hundred and
twenty-third section of the same Act, that the several
railways specified in the Fourth Schedule to the said
Act shall be deemed to have been made, and in so far
as any of them are unfinished may be completed,
under the provisions of the Act now under recital,
and the said Act shall be deemed to be a special
Act authorizing the construction of each of the said
railways; and by the one hundred and twenty-fourth
section of the same Act, that when any railway is to
be constructed under the provisions of any special
Act the Governor shall issue a Proclamation defining
the middle line of the railway or any part thereof,
and may from time to time, by a Proclamation re-
voking or amending such former Proclamation, alter
such line in any manner or to any extent which may
be found necessary for the construction of such rail-
way within the provisions of the said special Act;
and by the one hundred and twenty-fifth section of
the same Act, that the Minister shall cause to be
made and deposited in the office of the Registrar of
the Supreme Court such maps and plans as may be
