more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
two hundred and eighteen (2218) (in red), situated
in the Rakaia District. Bounded towards the South-
west by a road line for a distance of twenty (20)
chains; towards the North-west by Crown lands for a
distance of twenty (20) chains; towards the North-
east by Crown lands for a distance of twenty (20)
chains; and towards the South-east by Crown lands
for a distance of twenty (20) chains, as the same is
delineated on the plans deposited in the Provincial
District Survey Office, Christchurch. As a reserve, to
include waterhole.

bury, containing by admeasurement five (5) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
two hundred and nineteen (2219) (in red), situated
in the Rakaia District. Bounded towards the
South-east by a road line for a distance of about ten
(10) chains; towards the South-west by a road line
for a distance of about five (5) chains; on the North-
west by Crown lands for a distance of about ten (10)
chains; and on the North-east by Crown lands for a
distance of about five (5) chains, as the same is
delineated on the plans deposited in the Provincial
District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a gravel
pit.

All that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement five (5) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
two hundred and twenty (2220) (in red), situated in
the Rakaia District. Bounded towards the South-
east by a road line for a distance of about eleven (11)
chains; on the North-east by Crown lands for a
distance of about nine (9) chains; and on the North-
west by a road line for a distance of about thirteen
(13) chains, as the same is delineated on the plans
deposited in the Provincial District Survey Office,
Christchurch. For a gravel pit.

Auckland Highways Act brought into operation in the
Mangapiko and Tuhikaramea Highway Districts.

NORMANBY Governor.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me
vested by the eighth section of "The (Auck-
land) Highways Act, 1874," and "The Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constan-
tine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby bring the said "High-
ways Act, 1874," into operation within

THE MANGAPIKO HIGHWAY DISTRICT, and
THE TUHIKARAMEA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

And I do hereby appoint the first meeting of rate-
payers of the said Mangapiko Highway District to
take place at the Schoolhouse, Paterangi, on Satur-
day, the twenty-fifth day of August next, at two o'clock
p.m., and Gordon Charles Vernon Tisdall to be Chair-
man of such meeting; and the first meeting of rate-
payers for the Tuhikaramea Highway District to
take place at the Schoolhouse, Tuhikaramea, on
Saturday, the twenty-fifth day of August next, at two
o'clock p.m., and Henry Stainforth Brabant to be
Chairman of such meeting.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this second day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.

reference to your Despatch No. 8, of the 8th of March
last, that the Queen's Exequatur empowering Mr.
Gustav von der Heyde to act as German Consul at
Auckland, received Her Majesty's signature on the
9th instant, and that the notification of Her Majesty's
approval of this appointment will appear in the
Gazette of the 11th instant.
