Provisional Reserves for Educational Purposes in
the Provincial District of Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the twelfth section of "The Waste
Lands Administration Act, 1876," it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to
time to make out of any waste lands of the Crown
provisional reserves for educational purposes of a
public character in manner as in the said section is
set forth:
And whereas the Waste Lands Board of Canter-
bury has passed a resolution recommending that the
parcels of land described in the Schedule hereto
annexed should be set apart and reserved for educa-
tional purposes of the character in the said Schedule
also more particularly stated:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to reserve the said
parcels of land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zea-
land, in pursuance and exercise of the authority
vested in me by the above-named Act, and of all
other powers and authorities enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
parcels of land described in the Schedule hereto an-
nexed are provisionally reserved and set apart for
the educational purposes in the said Schedule
particularly described, subject to the terms and
conditions of the aforesaid twelfth section of the
above-named Act.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, containing by admeasurement two thou-
sand two hundred (2,200) acres, more or less, being
Section numbered one thousand one hundred and
sixteen (1116) (in red), situate in the Ashburton
District, including Pudding Hill. Bounded on the
Northward by a branch of the River Ashburton; on
the Southward by another branch of the same river;
and on the Westward by a straight line bearing N
44° 30′ E. (mag.), drawn from a point on the southern
boundary situated about three and a quarter miles
measured in a straight line from the confluence of
the above-mentioned branches of the aforesaid river.
For educational purposes.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement six
hundred and forty (640) acres, more or less, being
Section numbered one thousand five hundred and
fifty-two (1552) (in red), situate in the Ashburton
District. Bounded on the South-east by the north-
western boundary of Section 16379 and a line in
continuation thereof; on the North-east by the road
forming the north-eastern boundary of that section;
on the North-west by a line 80 chains long drawn at
right angles to the said road; and on the South-west
by a line at right angles to the north-western boun-
dary, the said north-western boundary being drawn
from a point on the said road so as to include the
required quantity. For educational purposes.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement thirty
(30) acres, more or less, being Section numbered
one thousand nine hundred and ten (1910) (in
red), situate at Wainui, Banks' Peninsula (Town of
Akaroa and Wainui Road District). Bounded on
the North-westward by the road forming the north-
western boundary of Section No. 22828; on the
North-eastward by that section; on the South-east-
ward by Section 22627; and on the South-westward
by a line parallel to the north-eastern boundary, so
as to contain the required quantity. For educational
purposes.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement ten
(10) acres, more or less, being Section numbered
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one (1931)
(in red), situate in the Ashburton District (Mt.
Somers Road District). Bounded on the South-
eastward by the road forming the north-west
boundary of Reserve 1605 (in red); on the North-
