bridge thereon erected, or to be thereon erected, to
obtain payment from all persons using such bridge
of the tolls or sums of money set forth in the Second
Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

THE bridge across the River Kawarau, on the road to
Cromwell, together with the approaches thereto, and
the area of land containing one acre, more or less,
described in a certain of lease made between the
late Superintendent of Otago and William Grant and
John Richards, bearing date the 28th day of August,
1876.

Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-

of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-sixth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred

Ormond Highway District constituted, and boun-
daries of Poverty Bay Highway District altered.

NORMANBY, Governor.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me
vested by the seventh section of "The (Auck-
land) Highways Act, 1874," and "The Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," I do hereby notify that, from and
after the date hereof, all that portion of the Poverty
Bay Highway District, in the Provincial District of
Auckland, hereunder described, shall be a district
under the said "(Auckland) Highways Act, 1874,"
and that such district shall be known by the name of

THE ORMOND HIGHWAY DISTRICT,
the boundaries whereof are as follows: - Commencing
at a point on the Waipaoa River, called Te Moari;
thence by lines 1665 links, 1600 links, 1280 links,
1664 links, 443 links, 700 links, 10100 links, and
15175 links, to Te Matatu, being the Northern

boundary of the Muhunga Block; thence by lines
8805 links, 800 links, 1095 links, 922 links, 712 links,
573 links, 3602 links, 1030 links, 958 links, 3000
links, 5157 links, and 1750 links, to the Taruheru
River; thence by that river to the northern
boundary of land known as the "School Estate;
thence by the said boundary 9200 links, and by
portion of the western boundary of the aforesaid
"School Estate," 1670 links; thence by portion of
the northern boundary of the Makauri Block, by a
line 803 links, to the Wairenga-a-hika Lagoon;
thence by the northern and western shores of that
lagoon to the Waipaoa River; thence by the centre
of that river to the point of commencement.

And I do further notify that the amended boun-
daries of the Poverty Bay Highway District shall be
as follows: - Commencing at a point on the Waipaoa
River, called Te Moari; thence by the centre of that
river to the Wairenga-a-hika Lagoon, thence by the
western and northern shores of that lagoon to the
northern boundary of the Makauri Block, and by
that boundary by a line 803 links to the western
boundary of land known as the "School Estate," thence
by that boundary by a line 1670 links, and by the
northern boundary of the aforesaid "School Estate,"
by a line 9200 links to the Taruheru River, thence by
the centre of that river to the eastern boundary of
the Matawhero No. 5 Block, thence by the said
boundary by lines 8869 links and 398 links to the
Waikanae River, thence crossing and by the said
river to the south-western boundary of the Wai-o-
hi-a-rore Block, thence by the said boundary between
the Wai-o-hi-a-rore and Awapuni Blocks by lines 655
links and 4622 links, to the sea coast, thence by the
coast line to the mouth of the Waipaoa River,
thence by a right line to the mouth of the Karaua
Stream, thence by the right bank of the Waipaoa
River to the mouth of the Arai Stream, thence by a
right line about 25000 links to Puke Amionga,
thence by a right line about 60400 links to Tonga-
hua, thence by a right line about 19000 links to Mr.
Scott's house, near the Waipaoa River, thence by a
right line about 300 links due East to the centre of
the Waipaoa River aforesaid, and by the centre of
that River to Te Moari, the point of commencement.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-sixth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.

First Meeting of Ratepayers of Ormond Highway
District.

NORMANBY, Governor.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me
vested by the eighth section of "The (Auck-
land) Highways Act, 1874," and "The Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," I do hereby bring "The
(Auckland) Highways Act, 1874," into operation
within the

ORMOND HIGHWAY DISTRICT;
and I do hereby appoint the first meeting of rate-
payers to take place at the Public Hall, at Ormond,
Poverty Bay, on Saturday, the eleventh day of
August next, at half-past seven o'clock in the even-
ing, and Mr. Stapleton Cotton Caulton to be Chair-
man of such meeting.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-sixth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.
