Notification of Governor’s Assent to construction of an Extension of the Dunedin, Peninsula, and Ocean Beach Railway from the present terminus at Forbury to Dunedin via Caversham.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the seventh subsection of the fourth section of “The Railway Companies Act, 1875,” (hereinafter called “the said Act,”) it is, among other things, enacted that if any such proposed branch railway as is mentioned in the Act is approved of, and such approval is signified as hereinafter provided, then the company may proceed with the construction of such railway in accordance with the said Act: And it is further enacted that whenever the Governor shall approve of any proposed branch railway, he shall, by notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, declare his assent to the construction of the railway, and such notice, when so published, shall be sufficient notice to the company of such approval: And whereas the Dunedin, Peninsula, and Ocean Beach Railway Company (Limited) have deposited plans of a projected extension of the above-mentioned railway from the present terminus at Forbury to Dunedin via Caversham at the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, and in other respects complied with the terms of the said Act: And whereas one-half of the whole body of the ratepayers resident within the highway districts through which the extension of the said railway is proposed to be constructed have not objected to the construction of the said extension of the said railway:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and in exercise of every other power enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby notify and declare that he consents to the construction of the said extension of the Dunedin, Peninsula, and Ocean Beach Railway from the present terminus at Forbury to Dunedin via Caversham.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Christchurch, this eleventh day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Provisional Reserve for Educational Purposes in the Township of Danevirk, Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of “The Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to make out of any waste lands of the Crown provisional reserves for educational purposes of a public character, in manner as in the said section is set forth:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the authority vested in me by the above-named Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto annexed is provisionally reserved and set apart for the educational purposes in the said Schedule particularly described, subject to the terms and conditions of the aforesaid twelfth section of the above-named Act.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, being Section numbered one (1) of the Town of Danevirk, containing by admeasurement one (1) rood and eighteen (18) poles, more or less. As a site for a school.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of “The Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to make out of any waste lands of the Crown provisional reserves for educational purposes of a public character in manner as in the said section is set forth:

And whereas the Waste Lands Board of Canterbury has passed a resolution recommending that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart and reserved for educational purposes of the character in the said Schedule also more particularly stated:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid recommendation, and to reserve the said parcel of land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the authority vested in me by the above-named Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this
