I, HENRY BUNNY, Executive Officer of
the Provincial District of Wellington, hereby
license

Mr. WILLIAM COOK and
Mr. CHARLES PARKER

to take, kill, or dispose of wild cattle, branded or
unbranded, upon Crown lands in the neighbourhood
of their properties, under the provisions of an Act of
the Provincial Council intituled "An Act to provide
for the Branding of Cattle, and the Destruction or
other Disposal of Wild Cattle."

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
fourteenth day of June, 1877.

Sheep Inspector's Notice.

Wellington, 9th June, 1877.

NOTICE has been received from the Inspector of
Sheep for the East Coast District that he has
granted clean certificates for the following flocks:-

James Armstrong, Akitio, Cabbage Tree, and
Middle Hill. Flock of ewes, about 2,700; dated
17th May, 1877. Flock of wethers, about 5,700;
dated 18th May, 1877.

F. G. Moore, Glenburn, mixed flock, about 8,500;
dated 29th May, 1877.

Edwin Meredith, Jun., Waiorongo, mixed flock,
about 750; dated 1st June, 1877.

Edwin Meredith, Sen., Riversdale, Orui. Mixed
flock, about 2,300; dated 21st May, 1877. Waiti,
mixed flock, about 4,000; dated 1st June, 1877.
Back Hills, flock of ewes, about 750; dated 2nd
June, 1877.

And that he has cancelled the clean certificate for
the flock belonging to Robert Langdon, Ngapopatu;
dated 19th April, 1877.

Between JOHN SMYLIE MCDEWELL THOMPSON
and Others, trading as Thompson, Shannon,
and Co., Plaintiffs; and DANIEL HAGGERTY,
Defendant.

Amount Recovered, Β£249 2s. 6d.

I HEREBY give notice, that by virtue of a writ
of fieri facias, issued out of the above honor-
able Court, and to me directed, I have caused my
Bailiff to enter upon all that piece of land being the
Section numbered 14 on the plan of the Township of
Carterton, in the District of Wairarapa, containing
eight acres two roods and six perches (8a. 2r. 6p.), a
little more or less. Bounded towards the North-east
by Section No. 13, 1708 links, and towards the North-
west by a public road 100 links wide, 500 links; to-
wards the South-west by Section No. 15, 1709 links,
and towards the South-East by Section No. 66, 501
links; together with the appurtenances thereunto be-
longing, the property of the defendant (subject,
nevertheless, to certain mortgages thereon), having
been taken execution at the suit of the execution
creditor herein; and that it is my intention to sell or
cause to be sold the freehold of the said piece of
land (subject to such mortgages) by public auction,
at the Court House, Greytown, on Saturday, the
23rd day of June, 1877, at 12 o'clock noon, unless
satisfaction be sooner made of the said judgment,
and all costs and expenses connected therewith.

And I further give notice that Robert Hart and
Patrick Alphonsus Buckley, of Wellington, are soli-
citors for the said plaintiffs.

Given under my hand at Featherston aforesaid,
this second day of March, 1877.

The deaths of persons not residents of the boroughs, occurring at hospitals, have been excluded in all cases.
The estimates of the population are calculated on the number of inhabited houses in each borough, as shown in returns
supplied by the municipal authorities.

The births were 34 more than in April.
The deaths were 21 more in number than the deaths in April.
Of the deaths, males contributed 68; females, 36: 40 of the deaths were of children under 5 years of age, being 38\cdot46
per cent. of the whole number; 25 of these were of children under 1 year of age.
There were 8 deaths of persons of 65 years of age and over: 7 of these persons were males, and 1 a female; 3 males
aged 70, 74, and 74, died at Auckland; 3 males of 65, 71, and 76 at Wellington; 1 male of 73 at Nelson; and 1 female of 65 at
Christchurch.
