A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the seventh section of the Act of
the Superintendent of the Province of Auck-
land, with the advice and consent of the Provincial
Council thereof, intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," it is enacted, that it shall be lawful for the
Superintendent, from time to time, by notification in
the Provincial Government Gazette, to divide such
portions of the said province, as he may think fit, into
districts for the purposes of the Act now in recital,
with distinctive names, and to define the boundaries
thereof; and in like manner, after due notice to any
District Boards affected thereby, and upon hearing
any objections offered thereto by any such District
Boards, to alter or amend the names and boundaries
of or abolish any district, and to create new districts:
And whereas by virtue of "The Abolition of Pro-
vinces Act, 1875," all powers, duties, and functions
by the said "Highways Act, 1874," vested in or to
be exercised or performed by the Superintendent are
now vested in and are to be exercised by the Go-
vernor:
And whereas there exists in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Auckland a district named the Mangapiko
Highway District: And whereas it is expedient to
abolish the said district, and to create two new
districts in place thereof:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all the
powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby pro-
claim and declare that from and after the date hereof
the said Mangapiko Highway District shall be and
the same is hereby abolished; and I do hereby further
proclaim and create within the Provincial District of
Auckland the two districts mentioned in the Schedule
hereto, and do declare that the said districts shall
have the names mentioned in the first column of the
said Schedule, and that the boundaries of such dis-
tricts shall be those set forth in the second column of
the said Schedule opposite the name of each district
respectively.

WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor is
empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion:
