I, HENRY BUNNY, Executive Officer of the
Provincial District of Wellington, hereby ap-
point

WILLIAM OSBORN

to be a Registrar of Dogs under the provisions of
"The Dog Nuisance Act, 1863," of the Province of
Wellington; and further, I hereby assign to the said
William Osborn the district contained within the
boundaries of the Manawatu County, as defined in
the Schedule to "The Counties Act, 1876."

I, HENRY BUNNY, Executive Officer of the
Provincial District of Wellington, by virtue of
the powers vested in me by the 31st clause of
"The Protection of Animals Act, 1873," hereby
appoint the gentlemen whose names and residences
are mentioned hereunder to be Rangers within the
Provincial District of Wellington, whose duty it
shall be to observe and take care that the said Pro-
tection of Animals Act is complied with in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington, and to lay informations
against such persons as may offend against the
same:-

Proclamation.

By HENRY BUNNY, Esq., Executive Officer of
the Provincial District of Wellington.

I, HENRY BUNNY, Executive Officer of the
, Provincial District of Wellington, hereby pro-
claim that the Regulations contained in the Schedule
hereto shall be the regulations for the elections of
members of the Board of Conservators of the Waiohine
River District, under the provisions of "The Wel-
lington Rivers Act, 1876."

SCHEDULE.

  1. The ratepayers entitled to vote at the election
    of a member or members of the Board of Conservators
    of the Waiohine River District shall meet at a con-
    venient time and place appointed by the Presiding
    Officer, a notice of which shall be posted in some
    conspicuous place in the district, and published in at
    least one newspaper circulating in the district.
  2. Every candidate shall be proposed by one
    qualified voter, and seconded by another.
  3. If at the first election the number of candidates
    proposed and seconded shall not exceed five, the Pre-
    siding Officer shall declare such candidates elected.
  4. If at the first election more than five candidates,
    and at any subsequent election more than one candi-
    date, are or is proposed and seconded, until the number
    of candidates elected shall be equal at the first
    election to the number of the Board, or at any sub-
    sequent election to the number of vacancies therein,
    the Presiding Officer shall put the names of all such
    candidates to the meeting in order, and shall call for
    a show of hands in respect of each candidate succes-
    sively; and if the show of hands for two or more
    candidates shall be equal, the Presiding Officer shall
    choose by lot the member or members to be elected;
    and the candidate in whose favour the Presiding Officer
    shall declare the show of hands or such choice by lot
    to be, shall be by him declared to be elected, unless a
    poll be forthwith demanded by another candidate.
  5. If a poll be demanded, the Presiding Officer
    shall forthwith declare to the meeting the day and
    place at which the poll shall be taken, and at such day
    and place the poll shall be taken accordingly, in the
    following manner:---
    (1.) The poll shall commence at nine o'clock in the
    forenoon, and continue till four o'clock in the
    afternoon.
    (2.) The Presiding Officer, with such assistants as
    he shall think necessary, shall attend at the
    appointed place, furnished with poll-books and
    pens and ink.
    (3.) Every person desirous and qualified to vote
    at such election shall appear in person at
    the appointed time and place, and shall state
    to the Presiding Officer or one of his assistants
    the name of the candidate for whom he
    desires to vote; and the said Presiding Officer
    or assistant shall enter the same in the poll
    book, and cause the voter to sign his name or
    set his mark thereto.
    (4.) The Presiding Officer shall, as soon as con-
    veniently may be after the close of the poll,
    ascertain the number of votes given for each
    candidate, and shall declare that candidate
    in whose favour the greatest number of votes
    shall appear to have been given to be duly
    elected. In case of equality of votes for two
    or more candidates, the member or members
    shall be chosen from such candidates by lot.
  6. When the Presiding Officer has declared any
    candidate duly elected, he shall forthwith send to the
    Colonial Secretary notice in writing of the name
    of such candidate, for publication in the New Zealand
    Gazette.

Manawatu County Council proclaiming a certain Road
to be a County Road.

NOTICE.

I HEREBY proclaim the following road to be a
County Road :-

That part of the main line of road from the turn-
ing in of the beach to the south of the Otaki River
to the inland ford, from there to and through the
Town of Hadfield to the beach to the north of the
Otaki River.
