Inspectors of Sheep appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint

BENJAMIN PEDDIE BAYLY, Esq.,
Chief Inspector of Sheep for the Provincial District
of Otago, to be Chief Registrar of Brands, Stamps,
or Buists for the same provincial district, under
"The Diseased Sheep Act, 1876;" and the following
persons to be Registrars of Brands, Stamps, or
Buists under the same Act for that portion of the
said provincial district which is stated under the
name of each such person respectively :-

CHARLES ANDERSON, Esq.,
of Invercargill, for that portion of the Provincial
District of Otago that was comprised within the
former Province of Southland ;

WILLIAM EDWARD SESSIONS, Esq.,
of Dunedin, for the remaining portion of the afore-
said Provincial District of Otago.

Inquiry for a Missing Person.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting a person
named

WILLIAM EDWARD NEWCOMBE CURETON,
who came to New Zealand in the "Crusader," in
1873, from London.

He is about 5 feet 6 inches in height, has dark
hair and moustache, large eyes with melancholy
expression, is of rather slight build, and is 25 years
of age.

He had letters of introduction to gentlemen in
Christchurch, and was last heard of at home by letter
from Christchurch, written about March, 1874.

Any person possessing information respecting the
above-named is requested to communicate the
same to this office.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting a person
named

JOHN HUMPHREYS,
who is supposed to have arrived in New Zealand in
1862, having left Victoria during that year with
others for the New Zealand gold fields. Any
person possessing information respecting the above-
named is requested to communicate the same to this
office.
