which the following is a description, viz.,-

Description of Trade Mark.
A. Swooping Eagle, under which is printed the
words "Trade Mark," and under them "CAREW and
CO.," used on labels, or blown or raised on bottles.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.

Application for Registration of Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Mr. EDWARD
WATERS, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Vic-
toria, has applied on behalf of CHARLES MARTELL,
EDWARD MARTELL, and GABRIEL MARTELL, of
Cognac, in the Republic of France, trading under
the style or firm of Martell and Company, to register
under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the Trade
Marks of which the following are descriptions, viz.-

Description of No. 1 Trade Mark.
A mark for capsules consisting of the words "J.
& F. Martell, Cognac," forming a circular border for
a coat of arms of three hammers or martells proper,
above which is the crest of a marten.

Description of No. 2 Trade Mark.
A mark for bottles, consisting of two coloured
lithographs, one being crescent-shaped with a light-
coloured border and a blue ground, carrying two
or three stars, as the case may be, in order to indicate
the quality of the brandy; and the other being about
five inches in breadth by two inches in depth, with a
French grey ground ornamented with scroll work,
and carrying a blue ribbon in the upper portion, on
which are the words "Old Brandy" in white letters.
Between these words is a shield containing a coat-
of-arms of three hammers or martells proper,
above which is the crest of a marten. Over
the crest in a narrow arch are the words, "Trade
mark on capsules and cases," in white letters on a
blue ground. Just below the centre of the litho-
graph are the words, "J. & F. Martell," also, in
white letters on a blue ground and on a scroll under-
neath is the word "Cognac" also in white letters on
a blue ground.

Description of No. 3 Trade Mark.
A brand for casks, consisting of the words and
monogram "J. & F. Martell, Cognac, ML" (ML
conjoined).

Description of No. 4 Trade Mark.
A brand for cases, consisting of a coat-of-arms
of three hammers or martells proper, above which
is the crest of a marten over the words "J.
& F. Martell," below which is the word "Cognac."
At the left-hand upper corner is a circle containing
either one star or two stars and "No. 1" underneath;
or three stars with VSO underneath, according as
the quality of the brandy may require.

Nature of Article to which it is intended such Trade
Marks shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Mr. SAMUEL
CARROLL, Patent's Agent, Wellington, has ap-
plied, on behalf of FREDERICK RUDOLPH WILCKENS,
of the City of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, to
register under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
Trade Mark of which the following is a description,
viz.,-

Description of Trade Mark.
The word "Pain-Killer," printed, impressed, or
woven in one line in capital letters of the size and
character known as "Two-line English Ionic" letters,
in any colour or form, on the wrappers containing
the article.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
"A Patent Medicine called Pain-Killer."

General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister
within the meaning of the said Act is published for
general information: --

By HENRY BUNNY, Esquire, Executive Officer of
the Provincial District of Wellington.

HENRY BUNNY, Executive Officer of the
Provincial District of Wellington, under the
powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby pro-
claim and appoint that it shall be lawful to hunt,
shoot, take, or kill any of the birds enumerated in the
First Schedule hereto in that part of the Provincial
District of Wellington the boundaries whereof are
described in the Second Schedule hereto, during the
months of April, May, June, and July, in the year
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
thirty-first day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
WILD DUCK of any species, bittern, pied stilt plover,
wild geese, dotterell, native pigeon, teal, black stilt
plover, curlew.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
Bounded on the North by a line bearing about east
from the source of the Waikanae River to the top of
the Tararua Range, and by the Waikanae River; on
the East by the summit line of the Tararua and
Rimutaku Ranges; on the South and West by the
sea coast between Taorakira Head and the Waikanae
River.
