Fixing Sittings of District Court at Carlyle.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in this behalf enabling me, I, George
Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of
Taranaki, for Civil and Criminal business, shall, from
and after the twentieth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, be held as follows:

In the Resident Magistrate's Court House at
Carlyle, on the first Wednesday in each of
the months of March, June, and November in
every year.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the
Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the
first day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.

Wanganui, for Civil and Criminal business, shall,

In the Court House at Wanganui, on the Mon-
day following the first Wednesday in each of
the months of March, June, and November in
every year.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as

Northern District assigned to Mr. Justice Gillies.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of March, 1877.

And whereas it is expedient that the Northern
District, as defined by a Proclamation dated the
twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-nine, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette dated the tenth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, should
be assigned to Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
one of the Judges of the said Court:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in
this behalf, doth hereby, with advice and
consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, revoke
the Order in Council dated the fifth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, assign-
ing the Northern District therein referred to, and
doth hereby, with the like advice and consent, assign
the Northern District, as defined by the said Pro-
clamation dated the twenty-fifth day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, unto

Wellington District assigned to the Chief Justice
and Mr. Justice Richmond.

NORMANBY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of March, 1877.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Supreme Court Act, 1860,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council from time to time to divide the
colony into judicial districts for the purposes of the
said Act, and the limits of such districts from time
to time to alter as occasion may require, and that the
Governor in Council shall assign every such district
to a Judge or Judges of the Supreme Court, who
shall have, within the same, all the powers and juris-
diction thereby given to the Court:

And whereas it is expedient that the Wellington
District, as defined by a Proclamation dated the
twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-nine, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette dated the tenth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, should
be assigned to the Judges of the said Supreme
Court hereinafter named:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in
this behalf, doth hereby, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand, revoke
the Orders in Council dated the first day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, and the
sixth day of February, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-seven, respectively, assigning the
Wellington District therein referred to, and doth
hereby, with the like advice and consent, assign the
Wellington District, as defined by the said Proclama-
tion dated the twenty-fifth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, unto

the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and

CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM RICHMOND, Esquire,
one of the Judges of the said Court.
