Extending Civil Jurisdiction of the District Court of
Wanganui.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District
Courts Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by
Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette,
to bring into operation with respect to any District
Court, from and after a day to be named in such
Proclamation, either the whole of the said Act or
such sections thereof as to him may seem fit:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
said power and authority vested in me for this pur-
pose, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and
after the twentieth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, the said "District
Courts Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866," shall come
into operation with respect to

THE DISTRICT COURT OF WANGANUI.

"The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865,"
on the Judge of the Wanganui District Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of March, 1877.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District
Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865," it is enacted that
the powers conferred on Judges of District Courts in
and by the twenty-fifth, twenty-sixth, and twenty-
seventh sections of "The District Courts Act,
1858," shall be exercised only within such districts
as shall from time to time be named by the Governor,
by Order in Council published in the New Zealand
Gazette, as districts within which such powers may
be exercised:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise of the power and authority so vested in
him as aforesaid, doth, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, name and appoint
the Wanganui District, as defined in and by a certain
Proclamation dated the thirteenth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, to be
a district within which the Judge of the District Court
of Wanganui may exercise the powers conferred by
the twenty-fifth, twenty-sixth, and twenty-seventh
sections of "The District Courts Act, 1858."

Warrant fixing Intervals of Sittings at New Plymouth
of District Court of Taranaki.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is made lawful for the Governor, from time
to time, by notification in the New Zealand Gazette,
to fix the times and places within the district at
which every District Court shall be held:

And whereas by "The District Courts Act Amend-
ment Act, 1865," it is enacted, that, as to the times of
holding such Courts, it shall be sufficient for the
Governor, if he shall so think fit, to fix the interval
only within which such Courts shall be held at each
place; and it shall in such case be lawful for the
Judge of such Court to fix the particular times and
days for the holding of such Courts, and from time
to time to alter the same, provided that such time
and days shall fall within the interval so fixed by the
Governor:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise
of the said power and authority, fix that from and
after the twentieth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, sittings of the
District Court of Taranaki shall be held at New
Plymouth at intervals of not less than six days, nor
more than seventeen days, between the first day of
each sitting of such Court.

As witness the hand of His Excellency
the Governor, this thirteenth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.
