has now returned to the said colony; and whereas it
is expedient that the said Nelson District should be
assigned to the Judges of the said Supreme Court
hereinafter named:
in pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling
him in this behalf, doth hereby, with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of New Zea-
land, revoke the said Order in Council of the third
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five, and doth assign the said Nelson Dis-
trict unto

JAMES PRENDERGAST, Esquire,
the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and
CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM RICHMOND, Esquire,
one of the Judges of the said Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of February, 1877.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Supreme Court Act, 1860,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Gover-
nor in Council from time to time to divide the colony
into judicial districts for the purposes of the said
Act, and the limits of such districts from time to
time to alter as occasion may require, and that the
Governor in Council shall assign every such district
to a Judge or Judges of the Court, who shall have;
within the same, all the powers and jurisdiction
thereby given to the Court:

And whereas on the twelfth day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said
recited provisions of the said Act, a district called
"The Middle District" was formed and constituted
by the Governor in Council:

And whereas on the twenty-sixth day of October,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, the
said Middle District was divided into two districts,
called respectively "The Wellington District"
"The Nelson District":
and

And whereas on the second day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, in further
exercise and pursuance of the said powers, the limits
of the said Nelson District were altered:

And whereas on the first day of April, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-five, in exercise and
pursuance of the said powers, the said Wellington
District was assigned to James Prendergast, Esquire,
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court:

And whereas it is expedient that the said Welling-
ton District should also be assigned to Christopher
William Richmond, Esquire, one of the Judges of the
said Court:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of all powers enabling him in
this behalf, doth hereby, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand, also assign
the said Wellington District unto

CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM RICHMOND, Esquire,
one of the Judges of the said Court.

Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint

GARLAND WILLIAM WOON, Esq.,
to be the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages,
and also Vaccination Inspector, for the District of
Wanganui, as the same is defined in Proclamation of
the 8th day of May, 1873, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette, No. 28, of the 9th day of May,
1873.

Whangaparaoa, Lake, North Shore, Devonport,
Waipareira, Waitakerei South, Waitakerei East,
Waitakerei West, Waikomiti, Titirangi, and Manu-
kau Highway Board Districts.
