ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of January, 1877.
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for

Governor in Council, at any time and from time to
time, to except from sale, and either reserve to Her
Majesty or dispose of in such other manner as for
the public interest may seem best, such of the waste
lands of the Crown in any of the provinces
of the colony as may be required for the purposes of
military defence, or for the construction of trunk
lines of road, or as sites for public buildings for the
use of the General Government, or for other pur-
poses of public utility or convenience:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and pursuance of
the power and authority in that behalf vested in him,
doth hereby except from sale and reserve to Her
Majesty the parcel of the waste lands of the Crown
particularly specified and described in the Schedule
hereunder written, for the purpose in the said Schedule
mentioned, and set opposite the description of the
said parcel of land.

SCHEDULE.

Description of Reserve. Purpose of Reserve.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Provin- For Public
cial District of Westland, situated on the south Buildings and
bank of the Totara River, at a distance of about other pur-
eight and a quarter miles from the Township of poses of the
Ross, the boundaries whereof are as follows:— General Go-
Commencing at a point bearing 114°, and distant vernment.
500 links from peg 659 of the traverse of the
Totara River; thence bounded by a line bearing
306° for a distance of 200 links; thence by a line
bearing 36° for a distance of 250 links; thence
by a line bearing 306° for a distance of 200 links;
thence by a line bearing 36° for a distance of
250 links to the starting point, containing by
admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, which said
piece or parcel of land is contained within the
red lines, and coloured red on the plan marked
P.W.D. 5188, which plan is identified by the
signature of the Honorable Harry Albert Atkin-
son, Minister acting for the Minister for Public
Works, and is deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at Hokitika, in
the Provincial District of Westland.

JUSTIN AYLMER, Esq.,

a Returning Officer under the 5th section of "The
Ellesmere and Forsyth Reclamation and Akaroa
Railway Trust Act, 1876," for the Ellesmere District,
to vice James Wilson, Esq., resigned.
