Construction Orders "Kaiwhata" and "Karamu"
Lines of Road, Wanganui-Waitotara Highway
District.

THE following Construction Orders have been
received from the Chairman of the Wanganui-
Waitotara Highway Board:--

CONSTRUCTION ORDER NO. 14.
"The Wanganui-Waitotara Highway Board hav-
ing examined the deposited plan, section, and specifi-
cation for the proposed Kaiwhata Road, and considered
the objections and suggestions made respecting such
road, hereby order it to be constructed according to
the line shown by such plan, section, and specifica-
tion."

CONSTRUCTION ORDER No. 15.
"The Wanganui-Waitotara Highway Board hav-
ing examined the deposited plan, section, and
specification for the proposed Karamu Road, and
considered the objections and suggestions made
respecting such road, hereby order it to be constructed
according to the line shown by such plan, section,
and specification."

Under the provisions of the thirty-third clause of
"The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," I,
Henry Bunny, in virtue of the power vested in me,
do hereby appoint that the objections referred to in
the above Resolutions shall be heard at my Office, in
the Provincial Buildings, on the Reclaimed Land, in
the City of Wellington, on Wednesday, the tenth day
of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, at twelve o'clock noon.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

NOTICE has been received by me from the In-
spector of Sheep for the East Coast District
that he has cancelled the Clean Certificate of
Mr. JOHN MOORE, Waikaraka, for his second
ewe flock, about 400, from the 2nd December.

NOTICE has been received by me from the In-
spector of Sheep for the Wellington District,
that he has cancelled the Clean Certificates of the
following flockowners:---
Mr. J. G. SQUIRES, Hutt Road, from the 6th
December, 1876;
Mr. T. J. DRAKE, Porirua Road, from the 7th
December, 1876.

Also, that he has granted Clean Certificates to the
following flockowners :--
Mr. E. WILTON, Ohiro, dated 8th December,
1876;
Mr. THOMAS HAWKINS, Ngahauranga, for a flock
of 50 wethers. Dated 9th December, 1876.

Greytown Local Board By-Laws.

IN pursuance of the seventy-third section of "The
Local Boards Act, 1873," the Commissioners of
the Greytown Local District order the following:--

  1. The Board may make such provision as it shall
    think fit for the periodical removal from every dwell-
    ing-house or other tenement as aforesaid, within the
    district, at the expense of the owner or occupier
    thereof, of any nightsoil, dung, ashes, slops, filth,
    refuse, or rubbish of any kind.
  2. The Inspector of Nuisances for the time being
    appointed by the Board, or any other person who
    may be employed by the Board for the purposes of
    this by-law, shall have power at all reasonable hours
    in the day or night to enter into or upon any building
    or land within the district, for the purpose of effect-
    ing any such removal as in the last preceding section
    specified, or of examining the condition of any privy,
    cesspool, drain, or closet-pan, or of cleansing, con-
    structing, altering or repairing the same.
  3. Any person guilty of the following offences,
    omissions, or neglects within the district shall, on
    being convicted of any such offence, neglect, or
    omission, be liable to pay any penalty not exceeding
    five pounds (Β£5) :--
    I. Throwing or sweeping any glass, filth, dirt,
    rubbish, orange-peel, or other matter of a similar
    nature, upon or into any street, channel, foot-
    way, court, alley, or public place whatsoever.
    II. Leading or riding any horse or other animal,
    or drawing, wheeling, or driving any cart, car-
    riage, sledge, truck, barrow; or other thing, upon
    or along any footpath, unless permitted by the
    Board to do so.
    III. Burning any shavings, straw, or other mate-
    rial upon any footpath, channel, surface drain,
    or carriage road, without such permission as
    aforesaid.
    IV. Drawing or trailing any timber or other
    material upon any footpath or carriage road.
    V. Allowing nightsoil or other offensive matter to
    be spilt or otherwise cast on or upon any road,
    street, footway, public place, or thoroughfare.
    VI. Leaving any inflammable materials or matter
    in any public street or place, or on any open
    space near any building, without such permission
    as aforesaid.
    VII. Allowing the droppings from the eaves of
    any house or verandah to fall upon any foot-
    path.
    VIII. Placing any placard or other document,
    writing or painting on or otherwise defacing any
    house or building, or any wall, fence, lamp-post,
    or gate, without the consent of the owner or
    occupier thereof.
    IX. Opening any drain or sewer, or removing the
    surface of any footway or carriage road without
    authority to do so.
    X. Neglecting to clean any private yard, way,
    passage, avenue, water-closet, privy, drain, or
    chimney, when ordered to do so, by which
    neglect a nuisance by offensive smell or other-
    wise is caused.
    XI. Rolling any cask, beating any carpet, break-
    ing-in any horse, flying any kite, using any
    bows and arrows, or playing at any game to
    the annoyance of any person in any public place;
