Notice.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 28th December, 1876.

IT is hereby notified, for public information, that
the Postage on Book Packets and Pattern Parcels,
whether posted for transmission within New Zealand
or to Foreign Countries, will, on and after the 1st
of January, 1877, progress at one uniform rate for
every two ounces after the first two ounces, instead
of for every four ounces as heretofore.

Land reserved for Town purposes.

WHEREAS by the Regulations for the Sale and
Disposal of Lands taken under the authority
of "The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," and
"The New Zealand Settlements Amendment and
Continuance Act, 1865," contained in the Schedule
to an Order in Council made and issued, bearing date
the eleventh day of May, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-one, it is provided that reserves
for roads, and all other public purposes whatever, and
for education, and the sites for churches and chapels
or other places of worship for different religious
denominations, may be made by Government out of
any confiscated lands, and that notices of all such
reserves shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: And, whereas, by section five of "The
Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876," it is pro-
vided that all Proclamations, Orders in Council, and
regulations relating to confiscated lands, and every
Waste Lands Act in force at the time of the passing
of the said Act within any land district, shall, except
so far as the same is expressly or impliedly altered
or repealed by the said "Waste Lands Administra-
tion Act, 1876," continue in force, and that no such
repeal or amendment, whether express or implied,
shall affect any contract, promise, or agreement made
by or on behalf of Her Majesty thereunder, previously
to the coming into operation of the said Waste Lands
Administration Act, and then incomplete or unful-
filled:
It is hereby notified, that, in pursuance and exer-
cise of the powers and authorities hereinbefore men-
tioned, and in fulfilment of a specific engage-
ment in that behalf, the lands specified in the
Schedule hereunder written shall be reserved for
the purposes therein mentioned and set opposite the
description of the said parcel of land.
