Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim and
appoint that, for the district named in the Schedule
hereto, a meeting of the Justices of the Peace resi-
dent within such district shall be yearly held at the
place whereof the name is in the said Schedule set
opposite to the name of such district, at eleven
o'clock in the forenoon on the second Monday in the
month of January, for the purpose of choosing a
Chairman and settling a rota of attendance.

Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this sixteenth day of December, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-six.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twelfth day of December, 1876.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council, at any time and from time to
time, to except from sale, and either reserve to Her
Majesty or dispose of in such other manner as for
the public interest may seem best, such of the waste
lands of the Crown in any of the provinces of the
colony as may be required for the purposes of
military defence, or for the construction of trunk
lines of road, or as sites for public buildings for
the use of the General Government, or for other
purposes of public utility or convenience:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and pursuance of
the power and authority in that behalf vested in
him, doth hereby except from sale and reserve to
Her Majesty so much of the waste lands of the
Crown as is particularly specified and described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in
the said Schedule mentioned, and set opposite the
description of the said parcel of land.

(Portion of). | All that piece or parcel of land situate in
the Provincial District of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand, and containing by ad-
measurement 6500 acres, more or less, com-
mencing at a point at the south-east corner of
Section No. 416, Hutt District, and running
in a north-westerly direction, 9514 links or
thereabouts; thence in a north-easterly di-
rection, 4520 links or thereabouts; thence in a
northerly direction, 8570 links or thereabouts;
thence in a north-easterly direction, 3601
links or thereabouts; thence in a northerly
direction, 2900 links or thereabouts; thence
in a north-easterly direction, 4198 links or
thereabouts; thence in a south-easterly di-
rection, 1764 and 5032 links or thereabouts;
thence in a south-west direction, 8950 links or
thereabouts; thence in a south-westerly di-
rection, 677 links or thereabouts, to the Paku-
ratahi River; thence following the western
bank of the said river to a point nearly oppo-
site to the 31st mile peg on the railway line;
thence in a north-westerly direction, 3100 links
or thereabouts; thence in a north-easterly
direction, 7200 links or thereabouts; thence in
a south-easterly direction to top of Rimutaka
Range, 14700, 2000, 1500 links or thereabouts,
respectively; thence in a south-westerly direc-
tionalong that range; thence in a south-easterly
direction, 7700 links or thereabouts to the
north-west corner of land belonging to Mr. L.
Cross, in the Wairarapa District; thence
along the western boundary of said land, 2560
or thereabouts; thence in a southerly
direction, 1400 links or thereabouts; thence
in a north-easterly direction, 60 links or there-
abouts to the north bank of a creek which
runs parallel to the railway line, following up
that creek on its north bank to a point nearly
opposite to the 35th mile peg on railway line;
thence in westerly direction, 3200 links; thence
in a north-westerly direction, 8500 links, to the
south bank of the Pakuratahi River, following
the south and east bank of said river and
crossing same at a bearing of 135° 00′, 3200
links or thereabouts; thence in a south-
westerly direction, 2000 links or thereabouts;
thence in a north-westerly and westerly di-
rection to the original starting point, 4700,
11900 links or thereabouts, respectively; the
same being delineated upon the plan marked
P.W.D. 5255, which plan is deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at
Wellington. | For the purpose
