Proclamation of Public Prisons at Arrow, Clyde, and Naseby.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Prisons Act, 1873,” it is provided that the Governor may from time to time, as to him shall seem meet, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a public prison, and from and after the publication of any such Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, or from any latter time specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed to be a public prison:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the following houses or buildings to be public prisons in lieu of the old wooden buildings hitherto used for that purpose:—

The New Prisons built of stone and concrete, and situated on the Police Reserves at Arrow, Clyde, and Naseby, respectively.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

Proclamation under Native Lands Acts Revoked.

(L.S.) NORMANBY, Governor.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation duly made and issued, bearing date the twenty-sixth July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, the Governor did proclaim and declare that the provisions of “The Native Lands Act, 1865,” and “The Native Lands Act, 1867,” should be suspended within the district described in the Schedule hereunto: And whereas in consequence of the repeal of such last-mentioned Acts, it is doubtful whether such Proclamation is still in force: And whereas it is expedient to revoke such Proclamation:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation of the twenty-sixth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Upper Thames District, Province of Auckland, within the following boundaries:—Commencing at Te Pourewa, thence to Waipuna, thence to Huakaramu, thence to Mangakahika, thence to Puapuapatotu, thence to Hakihaki, thence to Ngatamahinerua, thence to Tearoaroaparetapu, thence to Te Rakerake Okautere, thence to Okoukou, thence to Te Pahangahanga-a-te-moho, thence to Waitioka, thence to Kaiupoko, thence to Te Parapara, thence to Mangakaiwhiria, thence to Tauwharawhara, thence to Putakakariti, thence to Kapaahenerangi, thence to Tuaropaki, thence along the Mangawhero, thence to Tapangahue, thence to Takapau, it comes out at Waihou; thence to Marohapuku, thence to Paruparu, thence to Papaneke,
