  1. Furniture and other objects for the use of
    Dwellings.
  2. Clothing, including Fabrics and other objects worn
    on the person.
  3. Products of Mining Industry, Forestry, &c.
  4. Apparatus and Processes used in the Common
    Arts.
  5. Food—Fresh, Preserved, and in various states of
    Preservation.
  6. Artizans' Prizes (including all new inventions).
  7. Public and Denominational School Prizes.
    The Society provides all stands, &c., and under-
    takes the care and charge of all exhibits, without
    however incurring any responsibility.

The Exhibition is open annually the week following
Easter week, in buildings specially erected in the
Prince Alfred Park, Sydney, New South Wales, and
closes for Live Stock and Perishable Articles at the
end of first week; the Industrial portion of the
Exhibition remains open throughout the month. All
goods forwarded for Exhibition, and addressed to the
Secretary for that special purpose, are admitted free
of duty or Customs charges. No charge for space.
Entrance fee for non-members, 5s. Members sub-
scription, £1 1s. annually.

In the Agricultural Department, money prizes
are awarded as well as printed certificates; in the
Non-Agricultural Section, silver and bronze medals,
also certificates of commendation.

All articles sent may be sold at the Exhibition,
providing they be allowed to remain until the final
closing.

Applications for space to be made one month prior
to date of opening, and the necessary forms and all
information respecting the Exhibition may be ob-
tained of JULES JOUBERT, Secretary, 227, George
Street, Sydney, N.S. Wales.

THE following Bye-law, passed by the Municipal
Corporation of the Town of Nelson, is published
in accordance with the provisions of "The Municipal
Corporations Acts Amendment Act, 1875."

BYE-LAW OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NELSON.

In pursuance of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," the Council of the City of Nelson
hereby make the following Bye-law :—
GORSE.

ANY person who shall infringe or break this bye-law,
or neglect, omit, or refuse to do or perform any of
the matters therein directed to be done or performed
by him, shall for every such offence or omission be
liable to forfeit and pay any penalty not exceeding
the sum of five pounds for any one offence.

  1. The occupier, or in case there shall be no occu-
    pier, the owner or agent of the owner of any land

within the City of Nelson upon which a gorse hedge
shall be growing, or to which such hedge shall form
the boundary, shall in the months of May or June,
and November or December in every year, cause
such hedge to be properly trimmed, and shall not at
any time permit the same to exceed thirty inches in
width: Provided that where such hedge shall not
adjoin or divide the land of such occupier or owner
from any public street or place, then such occupier
or owner shall only be liable to trim his side of such
hedge, and the other side thereof shall be trimmed
by the occupier or owner of the land on the other
side of such hedge.

  1. The owner or, in case there shall be no owner
    resident within the colony, the occupier of any land
    within the City of Nelson, upon which any gorse,
    thorn, sweet-briar, or docks shall be growing, or being
    other than in a properly trimmed hedge, shall within
    thirty days after receiving from the City Council a
    written notice signed by the Town Clerk of the said
    city, or their Solicitor, requiring him so to do (which
    notice may be served personally or affixed to the said
    land), grub up, clear, and destroy all such gorse,
    thorn, sweet-briars, or docks, and thereafter keep the
    said land free from the same.

  2. All bye-laws and regulations and parts of bye-
    laws and regulations heretofore in force in and for the
    said city, which are inconsistent with or repugnant
    to this bye-law, are hereby repealed.

zens of the said City of Nelson, affixed
hereto, at a meeting held this twenty-
seventh day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-six.

Regulation of Nelson Municipal Corporation not
disallowed.

IT is hereby notified that a copy of a Regulation of
the Municipal Corporation of Nelson,
the
Seal of the Corporation, appointing a Cab-stand,
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency
has been pleased not to exercise his power of dis-
allowance with respect to the same.

appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint the under-mentioned gentlemen to be
the Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, and
also Vaccination Inspectors, for the Districts set
opposite their names, as the same are defined in Pro-
clamation of the 7th day of August, 1876, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 44, of this
day's date.
