THE following letter, received from the Acting
Colonial Secretary of Western Australia, is
published for general information.

SIR,βI have the honor, by direction of His Ex-
cellency Governor Robinson, C.M.G., to forward to
you copies of a Notice, and to request that you will
be good enough to give the same as much publicity
as you can.

WHEREAS it has become known to the Government
of the Colony of Western Australia that certain per-
sons have from time to time, without license or
permission, removed Guano and other natural pro-
ducts from islands lying within the limits of the
territory of the said colony :
Notice is hereby given, that the Government of
Western Australia will be prepared to consider any
applications that may be made for license to remove
Guano and other natural products from islands
within the limits of the colony, but any persons re-
moving any such Guano or other natural products
from any such islands without license or authority
from the said Government will be prosecuted with
the utmost rigour of the law.

the Municipal Corporation of Clyde, Otago,
under the seal of the Corporation, "for Pedlars and
Hawkers," having been laid before the Governor,
His Excellency has been pleased not to exercise his
power of disallowance with respect to the same.

Progress Report of the New Zealand War Medal
Commissioners.

THE following Report, relative to the issue to
officers, non-commissioned officers, and men
of the Colonial Forces, of the New Zealand War
Medal, is published for general information.

In accordance with the instructions conveyed by
the Commission of the 3rd September, 1872, I have
the honor to report that up to the present date I
have examined all applications for the Medal which
were referred to me since the 7th August, 1875, and
I now respectfully forward the enclosed Nominal
Rolls A, B, and C, containing the names of the
officers and men of the Colonial Forces who would
be entitled to the decoration for their services, and
whose claims to the distinction have been admitted
since the publication of our last report.
I therefore respectfully submit this Progress Re-
port for your Excellency's consideration.
