of the Napier and Waipawa District; to the East by
the sea coast to the southern boundary of the Hapaka
Block at Blackhead; to the South by the Hapaka
Line from the sea coast to the Ngahape Stream, and
up that stream to its source, and thence by a straight
line running due west to the Manawatu River, up
that river to its source, and by a straight line running
due west to the western boundary of the Province of
Hawke's Bay; and to the West by the western bound-
ary of said Province.

PORANGAHAU DISTRICT.
Bounded to the North by the southern boundary
of the Waipukurau District; to the East by the sea
coast to the Waimata Creek at the southern boundary
of the Province of Hawke's Bay; to the South by the
Waimata Creek and the southern boundary of the
said province to Wahataura; to the West by the
western boundary of the Tautane Block to its north-
western corner, thence by a straight line to the
junction of the Mangapuaka Creek with the Wangai
Stream, following up the Wangai Stream to its source,
thence in a straight line to the source of the Manga-
purakau Stream, down that stream and the Waikopiro
Stream to its junction with the Mangawaiora Creek,
and up that creek to the southern boundary of the
Waipukurau District.

TAMAKI DISTRICT.
Bounded to the North by the southern boundary
of the Waipukurau District; to the East by the
western boundary of the Porangahau District; to
the South by the southern boundary of the Province
of Hawke's Bay; and to the West by the western
boundary of said province.

And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the first day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this third day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-six.

Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Registration of Births and
Deaths Act, 1875," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by
Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to divide
the colony for the purposes of the said Act into such
and so many districts as he shall think fit, and that
every such district shall be called by a distinct name,
and shall be a Registrar's District; and further, that
the districts existing at the time of the coming into
operation of the said Act under any of the Acts

repealed thereby shall, until altered, be deemed to be
districts proclaimed under the said Act:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the fifth day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, the then
Governor, in pursuance of the power and authority
vested in him, did, amongst others, constitute, for
the purposes of the Acts repealed by the said Act,
a district called the "Waipukurau" District, the
boundaries whereof were therein set forth, which said
Proclamation came into operation and took effect on
the first day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-three:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the twenty-seventh day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, the
then Governor, in pursuance of the power and
authority vested in him, did, amongst others, constitute
districts, for the purposes of the Acts repealed by the
said Act, called the "Porangahau" District and the
"Tamaki" District, the boundaries whereof were
therein set forth, which said Proclamation came into
operation and took effect on the first day of October,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three:

And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamations as relates to the said districts,
and to divide anew the territory formerly comprised
within such districts:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said recited Act, do
hereby revoke the said Proclamations so far as they
relate to the Waipukurau, Porangahau, and Tamaki
Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the
territory formerly comprised within the said districts
shall be and the same is hereby divided, for the pur-
poses of the said Act, into four districts, the names
and boundaries whereof shall be as follows:β€”

WAIPAWA DISTRICT.
Bounded to the North by the southern boundary
of the Napier District; to the East by the Tuki
Tuki River; to the South by the Tuki Tuki River to
its source, and thence by a straight line running due
west to the western boundary of the Province of
Hawke's Bay; and to the West by that boundary to
the Ngaruroro River.

WAIPUKURAU DISTRICT.
Bounded to the North by the southern boundaries
of the Napier and Waipawa District; to the East by
the sea coast to the southern boundary of the Hapaka
Block at Blackhead; to the South by the Hapaka
Line from the sea coast to the Ngahape Stream,
and up that stream to its source, and thence by a
straight line running due west to the Manawatu
River, up that river to its source, and by a straight
line running due west to the western boundary of
the Province of Hawke's Bay; and to the West by
the western boundary of said Province.
