Reports of Cattle Inspectors.

THE following Reports, received from the Cattle
Inspectors for the Districts of Hokitika and
Napier, are published for general information.

DANIEL POLLEN.

Cattle Inspector's Office, Hokitika,
6th June, 1876.

SIR,—In accordance with the 46th section of "The
Diseased Cattle Act, 1871," I have the honor to
furnish report of all duties performed by me as
Cattle Inspector, during the six months ending 31st
March last.

I beg to say that no cattle have come by sea or by
land, which have been inspected by me, that have not
been passed as free from any contagious or infectious
disease.

I have travelled 68 miles in performance of my
duties, visited the sale yards at Arahura when pos-
sible, and inspected 437 head of cattle which arrived
in Westland by sea and land.

SIR,—I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt
of your circular, No. 12, 76-1098, of 1st May, 1876,
enclosing forms for cattle returns, and requesting
me to forward returns under "The Diseased Cattle
Act, 1871," on the 30th September and 31st March
in each year. Having furnished a report to your
office on 21st March last, I have only to add that
since that date no cattle have been landed or other-
wise introduced into Hawke's Bay since the date of
my last report, and that all cattle in this province
still continue free from any infectious or contagious
disease. In future, I will, of course, make use of
the printed forms now available in furnishing my
half-yearly reports.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint the under-mentioned gentlemen to be
the Deputies of the Registrars of Births, Deaths, and
Marriages for the Districts set opposite their names,
as the same are defined in Proclamation of the 8th
day of May, 1873, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 28, of the 9th day of May, 1873.

THOMAS EDWARD WYATT, Esq.,
to be the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages,
and also Vaccination Inspector, for the District of
Opotiki, as the same is defined in Proclamation of
the 8th day of May, 1873, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette, No. 28, of the 9th day of
May, 1873.

signed.

Public Vaccinators appointed.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 22nd June, 1876.

IT is hereby notified that, under the provisions of
"The Public Health Act, 1872," His Excellency
the Governor has been pleased to appoint the under-
mentioned gentlemen to be Public Vaccinators, to
perform gratuitous vaccination in accordance with
the provisions of the said Act and any Regulations
made or to be made thereunder, for the districts
mentioned in the Schedule hereto and set opposite
their names.
