Districts under "The Registration of Births and
Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the seventh section of "The Re-
gistration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zea-
land Gazette, to divide the colony, for the purposes
of the said Act, into such and so many districts as he
shall think fit, and that every such district shall be
called by a distinct name, and shall be a Registrar's
District; and further, that the districts existing at
the time of the coming into operation of the said Act
under any of the Acts repealed thereby shall, until
altered, be deemed to be districts proclaimed under
the said Act:
And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the sixth day of August, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, the then
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power and
authority, did, amongst others, constitute districts
called the "Coromandel" District and the "Short-
land" District, the boundaries whereof were therein
set forth, which said Proclamation came into opera-
tion and took effect on the first day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamation as relates to the said districts,
and to divide anew the territory comprised within
such districts:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said recited Act, do
hereby revoke the said Proclamation so far as the same
relates to the Coromandel and Shortland Districts, and
do proclaim and declare that the territory formerly
comprised within the said districts shall be and is
hereby divided, for the purposes of the said Act, into
three districts, the names and boundaries whereof
shall be as follows:β
COROMANDEL DISTRICT.
This district is bounded on the North and North-
east by the sea from Wangapoua Harbour to Cape
Colville; on the West by the sea from Cape Colville
to the Waikowhau Creek; on the South by said creek
to its source, and thence by a right line to the sum-
mit of the watershed between the east and west
coasts of the Coromandel Peninsula; thence on the
East by right lines from peak to peak along the
summit of said watershed to Castle Hill; thence by
a right line due north to the source of the Opitonui
Creek; thence by said creek to Wangapoua Harbour,
the starting point.
MERCURY BAY DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North and
East by the sea from Wangapoua Harbour to the
north-eastern corner of the Wharekawa East No. 2
Block; towards the South-east by the boundaries of
the Wharekawa East No. 1 Block, to the south-
western corner of the last-named block; thence
towards the South-west by a right line to the summit
of the watershed between the past and west coasts of
the Coromandel Peninsula, and by right lines from
peak to peak along the said watershed to Castle Hill;
thence by a right line due north to the source of the
Opitonui Creek; thence by said creek to Wangapoua
Harbour, the starting point.
THAMES DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North by the
Coromandel District; towards the North-east and
North-west by the Mercury Bay District to the sea;
towards the East by the sea to the south head of
Whangamata Harbour; thence towards the South-
east by a right line to the summit of Te Aroha, and
by a right line thence to Matamata; on the South by
a right line to the junction of the Waitaruru Creek
with the Piako River; towards the West by the
Piako River to its mouth, and by the Frith of the
Thames to the mouth of the Waikawau Creek.
And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the first day of
July, one thousand eight hundred and. seventy-six.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of

Revocation of Proclamation prohibiting Importation to
New Zealand of Grape Vines and Cuttings.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation made by His
Excellency the Governor in Council, under
the authority of "The Customs Regulation Act,
1858," bearing date the tenth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette on the twelfth day
of November of the same year, the importation into
New Zealand of the following goods, that is to say,
Grape Vines and Grape Vine Cuttings, was pro-
hibited: And whereas it is expedient to revoke the
said Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of every
