I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., of
the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide Claims to Land by
persons claiming title thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that the Claims
of the under-mentioned persons having been duly referred to me for investigation, I do hereby decide
that the said persons are respectively entitled to Crown Grants of the land set against their names in
the annexed Schedule.

or less. The legal estate to be antevested in the Grantee

REGULÆ GENERALES.
May, 1876.
WHEREAS by "The Public Trust Office Act
Amendment Act, 1873," it is enacted that the
Judges of the Supreme Court, or any two of them, of
whom the Chief Justice shall be one, may from time to
time make such general rules and orders touching and
concerning applications to be made to the Court or
Judge thereof under the said Act, and the conduct
and despatch of all business matters and things to be
done in relation to such applications, as to the said
Court shall seem expedient:
Now, therefore, by virtue of the powers so vested
in us, it is ordered by us, the Judges of the said Court,
that the following Rules shall come and be in force
on and after the first day of July, 1876:—
(1.) Applications under sections 16, 18, and 25 of
the said Act shall be by motion in Chambers, after
due notice to the Public Trustee.
(2.) Proceedings under section 20, for establishing
the right or title of any heir at law or devisee shall
be by petition setting forth specifically the grounds
on which such heir at law or devisee claims to be
entitled to possession of the estate, which petition
shall be verified by affidavit. A copy of such petition
shall be served on the Public Trustee at least seven
days before the day appointed for hearing thereof,
together with notice of the day so appointed.
(3.) Upon the hearing of such petition, the
Supreme Court, or a Judge thereof, shall take such
evidence orally or by affidavit as it or he shall think
fit, and, on being satisfied of the right of the peti-
tioner, may, for the purposes of the said Act, issue an
order declaratory of the right and title of such heir
at law or devisee to the possession of the estate
claimed.
