6. Any person not complying with these Regulations
shall be held to be unlicensed, notwithstanding that
he may be possessed of a license.
7. The Council may at any time revoke a slaughter-
house license for breach of any of the Regulations
made, or to be made, for the keeping of slaughter-
houses.
8. It shall not be lawful to keep within any enclo-
sure for a longer period than twelve days any cattle
or swine intended for slaughter.
9. It shall not be lawful to slaughter any great
cattle at any licensed slaughter-house.
Regulations made and adopted under Sections 88, 89,
and 90, Subdivision 4 of Part 10 of Schedule 13
of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," for
the Town of Cromwell.
- Any person trading within the incorporated
Town of Cromwell as a hawker or pedlar, notwith-
standing he may have been licensed under "The
Licensed Hawkers Ordinance, 1862," or under any
regulations in that behalf made by any other Corpo-
ration, shall be possessed of a license under these
Regulations. - Any person desiring to obtain a license under
these Regulations shall make application in writing
to the Council, and shall give the names of two re-
spectable ratepayers within the Town of Cromwell
who shall have expressed in writing their willingness
to be bound as sureties in the sum of twenty pounds
each for the good behaviour and honesty of the
applicant, and the Council may grant or refuse a
hawker's license thereupon; and should the license
be granted, the said sureties shall enter into bonds to
the amount of said twenty pounds each for the good
conduct and honesty of the applicant. - Every license issued under these Regulations
shall have force and effect until the 31st day of
December then next ensuing, and no longer. - The Town Clerk shall, on a certificate by the
Council authorizing the issue of a hawker's or pedlar's
license under these Regulations, and upon receipt by
him of the bonds of the two sureties as provided in
Regulation No. 2, and further, upon payment of a
fee of two pounds sterling, issue to the applicant a
hawker's or a pedlar's license.

Petition for a Municipality at Akaroa.

IN conformity with the provisions of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1867," the following
Petition from Inhabitant Householders of Akaroa
for the Town of Akaroa to be constituted a Borough,
and Notification from His Honor the Superin-
tendent of Canterbury, that he does not dissent from
the prayer of the Petition, are published for general
information; and it is hereby notified that His
Excellency the Governor will consider the Petition
on the 22nd day of July next.

TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR OF NEW ZEA-
LAND.
The Petition of the undersigned Inhabitant
Householders, resident within the Town of
Akaroa, in the Province of Canterbury.
HUMBLY SHOWETH:
THAT the said Town of Akaroa was proclaimed a
town on the first day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and fifty-six, which Proclamation was
gazetted in the Canterbury Provincial Government
Gazette, of the twelfth day of May, in the same
year.
That the said town is situated and bounded as
follows, that is to say, situated on the east side of
the Harbour of Akaroa, and shall be bounded by a
line commencing at a point where the northern
branch of the Mill Stream falls into the sea; con-
tinued easterly along the northern branch of the said
stream to the first fork; thence in a straight line
southerly to the trigonometrical pole marked "A"
on the hill; thence in the same direction to the point
where the Balqueri Road meets the eastern boundary
of Watson Street; thence along the eastern side of
the said street to where it crosses the eastern boun-
dary of Le Lievre's land; thence southerly along the
said eastern boundary and along the boundary of
Malmanche's land to the Rue Charbonnier; thence
across the Rue Charbonnier and onwards southerly
in the same direct line as the eastern boundary of
Malmanche's land to Aylmer Street; thence westerly
along the southern side of that street to its junction
with South Street; thence along the eastern side of
the last-named street till it meets a line in con-
tinuation of the north-east side of the Abattoir
Reserve; thence north-westerly along the said line
and the north-eastern boundary of the Abattoir
Reserve to low watermark; thence along low water-
mark to the commencing point; which said boundary
line of the said town is marked in a red dotted line
on the map of the Town and Suburbs of Akaroa,
signed by the Chief Surveyor, and marked "A3,"
and deposited in the Land Office at Christchurch.
And your Petitioners pray that the Town of
Akaroa, as above described and bounded, may be
proclaimed a borough under "The Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1867."
And that your Excellency will be pleased to endow
the said borough with such property and in such
manner as to your Excellency shall seem most
advisable.
And your Petitioners will ever pray.
