Formation of a new District for Tokomairiro, and
alteration of the Western Otago District, under
"The Debtors and Creditors Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The
Debtors and Creditors Act, 1875," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks
fit, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, con-
stitute any part of New Zealand into a district under
the said Act, and such districts may be coterminous
with a district under "The District Courts Act,
1858," or not; and may abolish any such district or
alter the boundaries thereof, and declare by what
local name each such district shall be called:
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-second day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-five, the districts of "Toko-
mairiro" and of "Western Otago" were proclaimed
and constituted districts under the said Act:
And whereas it is expedient to constitute a new
district in lieu of the Tokomairiro District, and to
alter the boundaries of the Western Otago District:
Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me for this purpose by the said
recited Act, do hereby proclaim and constitute the
Districts of Tokomairiro and Clutha and of Western
Otago, as hereinafter described, to be respectively
districts under the said Debtors and Creditors Act,
1875, under the respective local names of the "Toko-
mairiro and Clutha District" and "Western Otago
District."
TOKOMAIRIRO AND CLUTHA DISTRICT.
All that land bounded towards the North and
North-east by the Otago Gold Fields and the Dun-
edin District Court Districts from Black Umbrella
to the mouth of the Taieri River; towards the South-
east and South by the sea; and towards the West
by the Western Otago District hereinafter defined, to the south-eastern
corner of Run No. 193; and again towards the West
by the Otago Gold Fields District to Black Umbrella,
WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.
All that land bounded towards the North and
North-east by the Otago Gold Fields District Court
District, as defined in the Schedule to the Proclama-
tion dated 10th July, 1875, from Milford Sound to
the south-eastern corner of Run No. 193, and thence
by a right line due east to the western branch of the
Waikaka River; thence towards the East by that
branch and the Waikaka River to its junction with
the Pukerau River, by a right line to the north-
eastern corner of the Tuturau Hundred, and by the
eastern boundaries of the Tuturau, Mokoreta, and
Toitoes Hundred to the sea; and towards the South
and West by the sea to Milford Sound.

Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; at the Go-
vernment House at Wellington, this
twelfth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858," it
is enacted that there shall be within the colony
Courts of Record, possessing civil and criminal juris-
diction, to be called District Courts, and it shall be
lawful for the Governor from time to time, as he
