shall think fit, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, to constitute throughout the colony, or in
any part thereof, districts within which such Courts
shall be respectively held, and such districts to
abolish, and the boundaries thereof to define or alter,
and also to declare by what local name each such
Court shall be designated:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two, the Districts of "Western
Otago" and "Tokomairiro and Clutha" were ap-
pointed districts within which District Courts should
be respectively held under the said Act, under the
respective designations of "the District Court of
Western Otago" and the "District Court of Toko-
mairiro and Clutha:"

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries
of the above-mentioned districts:

Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said recited Act, do
hereby constitute and proclaim the districts herein-
after described to be the districts within which the
"District Court of Western Otago" and the "Dis-
trict Court of Tokomairiro and Clutha" shall be re-
spectively held under the said Act and any Act
amending the same.

WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.

All that land bounded towards the North and
North-east by the Otago Gold Fields District
Court District, as defined in the Schedule to the
Proclamation dated 10th July, 1875, from Milford
Sound to the south-eastern corner of Run No. 193,
and thence by a right line due east to the western
branch of the Waikaka River; thence towards the
East by that branch and the Waikaka River to its
junction with the Pukerau River, by a right line to
the north-eastern corner of the Tuturau Hundred,
and by the eastern boundaries of the Tuturau, Moko-
reta, and Toitoes Hundreds to the sea; and towards
the South and West by the sea to Milford Sound.

TOKOMAIRIRO AND CLUTHA DISTRICT.

All that land bounded towards the North and
North-east by the Otago Gold Fields and the Dun-
edin District Court Districts from Black Umbrella
to the mouth of the Taieri River; towards the South-
east and South by the sea; and towards the West
and again towards the South by the Western Otago
District hereinbefore defined, to the south-eastern
corner of Run No. 193; and again towards the West
by the Otago Gold Fields District to Black Umbrella.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depend-
encies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House at
Wellington, this twelfth day of January,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six.

District under "The Registration of Births and
Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the seventh section of "The Re-
gistration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zea-
land Gazette, to divide the colony for the purposes
of the said Act into such and so many districts as he
shall think fit, and that every such district shall be
called by a distinct name, and shall be a Registrar's
District: And it is provided that the districts exist-
ing at the time of the coming into operation of the
said Act under any of the Acts repealed thereby shall,
until altered, be deemed to be districts proclaimed
under the said Act:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the sixteenth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, the then
Governor, in pursuance of the power and authority
vested in him, did, amongst others, constitute a
district called the "Cambelltown" District, the
boundaries whereof were therein set forth, which said
Proclamation came into operation and took effect on
the first day of September, one thousand eight hun-
dred and sixty-three:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the twelfth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, the then
Governor, in pursuance of the power and authority
vested in him, did constitute the Island of Ruapeke a
separate and distinct district, which said Proclamation
came into operation and took effect on and from the
eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-four:

And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamations as relate to the said districts,
and to proclaim anew the territory comprised within
such districts as one district:

Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said recited Act, do
hereby revoke the said Proclamations, so far as they
relate to the "Cambelltown" and "Ruapuke" Dis-
tricts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory
formerly comprised within the said districts shall be
comprised in one district, the name and boundaries
whereof shall be as follow:---

CAMPBELLTOWN DISTRICT.

Bounded on the East by the Mataura River; on the
South by the ocean; on the West by the estuary of
the New River; and on the North by the Mokomoko
Inlet, and a right line from the south-east corner
thereof, drawn east to cut the Mataura. Including
also Dog Island and the Island of Ruapuke.

And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the first day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
six.
