THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
CARCASES OF CATTLE, SHEEP, AND PIGS IMPOR-
TATION PROHIBITION.
By His Excellency FREDERICK ALOYSIUS WELD,
Esquire, Companion of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
the Colony of Tasmania and its Dependencies.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS with a view to prevent any infectious or
contagious distempers or disease amongst cattle,
sheep, and pigs, it is expedient to prohibit the im-
portation into Tasmania of the carcases of any such
animals exported from the Colonies of New South
Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia,
Western Australia, or New Zealand: Now therefore,
I, Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Companion of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief as
aforesaid, by virtue of section twenty-three of the
the Customs Act (25 Victoria, No. 3), and with
the advice of the Excutive Council, do, with a view
to prevent infectious and contagious distempers or
disease among cattle, sheep, and pigs, hereby prohibit
the importation into Tasmania of the carcases of any
cattle, sheep, or pigs which have been exported
from the Colonies of New South Wales, Victoria,
Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, or
New Zealand, or any of them.

Tasmania aforesaid, this thirteenth day of
