Defining District under "The Licensing Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act, 1873," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Go-
vernor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the
passing of the said Act, by Proclamation in the
Government Gazette, define such territorial divisions
as he may think proper to be Licensing Districts
for the purposes of the said Act, and from time to
time may alter and re-define the boundaries of the
same:
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, the Districts of West-
port and Buller were, amongst others, constituted
under the said "Licensing Act, 1873:" And
whereas it is expedient to abolish the said dis-
tricts, and define another district in lieu thereof:
Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of
the hereinbefore recited Acts, and of every power
and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
abolish the said Districts of Westport and Buller,
and do proclaim, constitute, and appoint that the
territorial division, the boundaries whereof are de-
fined and set forth in the Schedule hereto, shall be
a Licensing District for the purposes of the said
Acts; and that such district shall be known by the
name by which it is designated in the said Schedule:
And I do further proclaim and declare that three
members of the Licensing Court constituted for
such district, inclusive of the Chairman, shall form a
quorum thereof.
SCHEDULE.
BULLER DISTRICT.
BOUNDED on the North from the mouth of the
River Heaphy by the southern boundary of the
Aorere District; on the North-east by the south-
western boundary of the Takaka District to Mount
Arthur; thence on the Eastward by the western
boundary of the Waimea South District, and from
the south-western angle of the last-named district by
a line to a point on the Papahaua Range, at the head
of the River Mokihinui; thence along the Papahaua
Range to a point on the River Buller two miles
below its junction with the Inangahua; thence fol-
lowing the River Buller down to its junction with
the Blackwater; thence up the Blackwater to its
source, and on to the Paparoha Range to a point on
the eastern boundary of the Charleston District at
the head of the River Nile; thence along the range
in a northerly direction to Buckland Peaks; thence
following the watershed between the Rivers Okari
and Totara, and a right line to the sea coast; and
thence following the coast line to the mouth of the
River Heaphy, the commencing point.

and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in
the County of York, in the Peerage of
the United Kingdom; and Baron Mul-
grave of New Ross, in the County of
Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a
Member of Her Majesty's Most Honor-
able Privy Council; Knight Commander
of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at Wellington, this
eighth day of February, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-five.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Public Health Act, 1872,"
it is, among other things, enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, by any order noti-
fied by Proclamation in the Gazette, appoint certain
stations within or near any harbour or place within
New Zealand for the performance of quarantine
under the Third Part of the said Act, where all
vessels liable to quarantine, and the crews, passen-
gers, and persons on board thereof, shall perform the
same: And whereas it is expedient that the place
hereinafter particularly mentioned should be ap-
pointed a Quarantine Station for the purposes in the
said Act mentioned:
Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me for that purpose,
do by this Proclamation order and appoint that the
place named and described in the Schedule hereto
shall be, and the same is hereby appointed to be, a
station for the performance of quarantine under the
Third Part of "The Public Health Act, 1872."
SCHEDULE.
THE three sections, Nos. 23, 47, and 21,890, com-
prising the whole area of Quail Island, in the Har-
bour of Lyttelton, together with the road one
hundred links in width, from high water, and the
foreshore abutting thereon, shown on the plan of the
Chief Surveyor of the Province of Canterbury, and
estimated to contain a total area in the three sections
of one hundred and eighty-five acres.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council;
Knight Commander of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
