District hereinbefore defined; together with the ad-
jacent islands.

CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North by the
Marlborough District hereinbefere defined; towards
the South-east by the sea; towards the South-west by
the south bank of the Ashburton River, and a right
line due North-west to the summit of the main range
of the Southern Alps; and towards the North-west
by the Westland District hereinbefore defined;
together with the adjacent islands.

TIMARU AND OAMARU DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North-east
by the Canterbury District hereinbefore defined;
towards the East by the sea; towards the South-
west by right lines from Vulcan or Shag Point
along the summit of the Horse Ranges and the
Kakanui Mountains, and a right line to Kye-
burn Hill, and thence by a right line to Little
Domett Peak; thence towards the South by a right
line due west to the summit of the Hawkdun
Mountains; again towards the South-west by right
lines along the summit of the Hawkdun Mountains
to a point due east of Mount St. Bathans; thence
again towards the South by a right line to the summit
of Mount St. Bathans; thence towards the West by
a right line due north to the northern boundary of
the Province of Otago; again towards the South by
the said boundary of the Province of Otago; and
towards the North-west by the Westland District
hereinbefore defined; and is coterminous with the
District Court District.

OTAGO GOLD FIELDS DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North by the
Westland and Timaru and Oamaru Districts herein-
before defined; towards the East, North, and North-
east by the Timaru and Oamaru District; again
towards the East by a line from the summit of the
Kakanui Mountains, following the nearest spur to
the junction of the Deepdell Creek with the Waihemo
or Shag River, thence by right lines from peak to
peak along the watershed between the Waikouaiti
and Taieri Rivers to Silver Peak, and thence by a
right line to the source of Silver Stream, and along
the said stream to the West Taieri Road; thence
towards the South-east and South by the said road
to the boundary of the Hundreds, thence by the
boundary of the Hundreds to the east branch of the
Tokomairiro River, thence by thesaid river to the
Main South Road, by the Main South Road to
Lovell's Creek, by Lovell's to the south-west boun-
dary of Run No. 54, by the said boundary of said run
to the Crook Burn, and by the Crook Burn to its
junction with the Clutha River, and thence by a right
line to a point twenty chains due west of the Clutha
River; thence towards the West by a line parallel to
the Clutha River to a point due east of Spylaw Hill;
thence again towards the South and South-east by a
right line to the summit of Spylaw Hill, thence by a
right line to the source of Spylaw Burn, thence by
the Spylaw Burn to its junction with the Pomahaka
River, thence by the Pomahaka River to the con-
fluence of the Parasol Creek, thence by the said
creek to its source, and by a right line thence to the
summit of Black Umbrella Mountain, thence by
right lines from peak to peak along the range be-
tween the western branch of the Waihaka River and
the Otama Creek to the southern boundary of Run
No. 193, and by that boundary to the Mataura River;
thence towards the West by the Mataura River to
its source, and by a right line to the summit of Eyre
Peak, and thence by right lines from peak to peak
along the western watershed of Lake Wakatipu to a
point due east of Mount Christina; thence again
towards the South by a right line to the summit of
Mount Christina, by a right line thence to the
nearest source of the Cleddau River, and by that
river and the southern shore of Milford Sound to the
sea; and thence again towards the West by the sea
to the mouth of the Awarua River, the commencing
point; and is coterminous with the District Court
District.

DUNEDIN DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North-east by
the Timaru and Oamaru District hereinbefore defined;
towards the South-east by the sea; towards the
South-west by the Taieri River, the eastern and
northern shores of Lake Waipori, and the Meggat
Burn, to the Otago Gold Fields District hereinbefore
defined; and towards the North-west by the Otago
Gold Fields District; and is coterminous with the
District Court District.

TOKOMAIRIRO DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North and
North-east by the Otago Gold Fields and Dunedin
Districts hereinbefore defined; towards the South-
east by the sea; and towards the West by the meri-
dian of 169Β° East longtitude to the Suburban
Hundred, by the eastern and northern boundaries of
that Hundred to the Mataura River, and by the
Mataura River to the Otago Gold Fields District;
and is coterminous with the District Court District.

WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.
This district is bounded towards the North-east
and East by the Otago Gold Fields and Tokomairiro
Districts hereinbefore defined; and towards the
South and West by the sea; together with the
adjacent islands, and Stewart Island and its adjacent
Islands; and is coterminous with the District Court
District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depend-
encies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twenty-second day of
December, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.
