Diseased Cattle Regulations.
NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of November, 1875.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the eleventh section of “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871,” (hereinafter called “the said Act,”) it is, amongst other things, enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor by Order in Council, at any time after the coming into operation of the said Act, to make general regulations with respect to all cattle whatsoever, and whether imported cattle or not, for all or any of the purposes in the section now in recital mentioned, and generally to make such provisions as shall seem best calculated to prevent the introduction or spread of disease in the colony:
And whereas the said Act was, by a Proclamation made by the Governor thereunder, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, proclaimed to come into force in the said colony on the fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two:
And whereas by the said Act it is further enacted that, in and by such regulations as aforesaid, it shall be lawful for the Governor to prescribe penalties for the breach thereof, as in the said Act mentioned:
And whereas by the third section of the said Act it is enacted, among other things, that the term “cattle” shall for the purposes of the said Act, amongst other things, bear the following meaning :—“Any bull, cow, ox, heifer, and calf;” and by the third section of “The Diseased Cattle Act Amendment Act, 1873,” that the term “cattle” in the said Act mentioned shall, for the purposes thereof, and of the Act now in recital, extend to and include “as well the animals in the said Act mentioned, as also horses, sheep, goats, swine, and such other animals as the Governor in Council shall from time to time declare subject to the said Act and the Act now in recital:”
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby make the following general Regulations, and doth order and declare that the regulations hereby made shall take effect from and after the first day of December next, on which day the same shall come into operation.
REGULATIONS.

No person shall kill or destroy any cattle within any part of a district constituted under the said Act that has been declared an infected place or district, unless he shall give twelve hours’ previous notice, to the Cattle Inspector of the district, of the exact time and place when and where he intends so to do.

If any person shall kill or destroy any cattle in such place or district so declared infected, without giving such notice as aforesaid, or at a different time or place from that stated in such notice, he shall be liable for each offence to pay a penalty not exceeding ten pounds (£10), to be recovered in the manner provided by the said Act: Provided that any Resident Magistrate, or any two or more Justices of the Peace before whom any such penalty is sought to be recovered, may order a part only of such penalty to be paid, if he or they shall think fit.

These regulations shall be deemed applicable to infected places only.

Until further order shall be made in that behalf, the above regulations shall be in force only within the district of Kaikoura.

Order in Council conferring certain powers under “The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865,” on the Judge of the Nelson District Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of November, 1875.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865,” it is enacted that the powers conferred on Judges of District Courts in and by the twenty-fifth, twenty-sixth, and twenty-seventh sections of “The District Courts Act, 1858,” shall be exercised only within such districts as shall from time to time be named by the Governor, by Order in Council published in the New Zealand Gazette, as districts within which such powers may be exercised:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the power and authority so vested in him as aforesaid, doth, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, name and appoint the Nelson District, as defined in and by a certain Proclamation dated the sixth day of November instant, to be a district within which the Judge of the Nelson District Court may exercise the powers conferred by the twenty-fifth, twenty-sixth, and twenty-seventh sections of “The District Courts Act, 1858.”

Appointing Place for holding Licensing Courts.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that sittings of the Licensing Court for the Licensing District of Wendon shall, until otherwise ordered, be held at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House at Tapanui.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; at the Government House; at Wellington, this fifth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.
