OFFICIATING MINISTERS FOR 1875.—NOTICE No. 3.
Registrar-General's Office,
Wellington, 26th January, 1875.
PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister
within the meaning of the said Act is published for
general information:—

WM. R. E. BROWN.

NOTICES TO MARINERS.

No. 2 of 1875.
Customs Department (Marine Branch),
Wellington, 20th January, 1875.
THE Chief Harbour Master of Taranaki reports
the discovery of shoal patch in the Roadstead
at New Plymouth, with the following magnetic bear-
ings:—

The Flagstaff on with a farm-house in
the centre of a clump of trees bearing S. E.
The two white beacons on the Sand
Hills to the westward of the land-
ing-place bearing ... S.W. by S.

There is only 17 feet of water on it at low-water
spring tides. The centre of the patch is about 30
feet square, and consists of large flat-topped stones,
with several detached stones lying from 20 to 30 feet
off the centre, with 3½ to 4 fathoms over them at low
water. There is 4½ fathoms round the shoal. By
keeping the western beacons open, this shoal will be
avoided in anchoring either in or outside of it. These
beacons in line lead direct over the shoal, which is
half a mile N. ¼ W. magnetic from the Flagstaff.
WILLIAM H. REYNOLDS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 25th January, 1875.
THE Colonial Secretary directs it to be notified
for general information, that upon comparing
"The Bankruptcy Act, 1867," as printed in the
Statute Book of 1867 with the Bill as passed by
both Houses of the Legislature, and assented to
by His Excellency, it appears that there is a misprint
in the third line of the one hundred and twenty-fifth
section of the said Act, as printed in the Statute
Book, the word "or," where it appears the second
time in the said line being printed instead of the word
"on." Such section, as passed by both Houses, and
assented to by his Excellency, reads as follows:—
"After the order of discharge takes effect, the
bankrupt shall not be liable to pay or satisfy any
debt, claim, or demand, provable under the bank-
ruptcy or any part thereof on any contract or promise
made after adjudication; and if he is sued on any
such contract or promise, he may plead in general
that the cause of action accrued pending proceedings
in bankruptcy, and may give this Act and the special
matter in evidence."
By order of the Colonial Secretary.
G. S. COOPER.
