Assent of Natives to bringing certain Lands under
"The Native Reserves Act, 1856."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fifth day of October, 1875.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Native Re-
serves Amendment Act, 1862," it is, amongst other
things, provided that where, under the provisions of
"The Native Reserves Act, 1856," the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants is required to bringing land
under the operation of the said "Native Reserves
Act, 1856," the Governor may, by Order in Council,
declare such assent to have been ascertained; and
thereupon the title of the aboriginal inhabitants in
the land to which the same shall relate shall be
deemed to be extinguished, and the lands shall, from
the date of such Order in Council, vest in Her
Majesty for the purposes and subject to the provi-
sions of the said "Native Reserves Act, 1856," as
altered by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and
that as effectually as if the same had been ceded and
conveyed by such aboriginal inhabitants to Her
Majesty: And whereas it hath been certified and
reported to the Governor by Alexander Mackay,
Esq., a person duly appointed in that behalf, that the
aboriginal inhabitants entitled to the several pieces
or parcels of land described in the Schedule hereto
have assented that the said several pieces or parcels
of land shall be subject to the provisions of "The
New Zealand Native Reserves Act, 1856:"
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, doth hereby declare that the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants entitled to the several pieces
or parcels of land described in the Schedule here-
under written, that the said pieces or parcels of land
shall be subject to the provisions of "The New
Zealand Native Reserves Act, 1856," has been ascer-
tained.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece of land situate at the Parapara, in
the Province of Nelson, containing by admeasure-
ment one hundred and fifty acres, more or less, and
known as Section 192 on the plan of the district;
bounded towards the North, one thousand seven
hundred (1700) links and one thousand (1000) links
respectively, partly by the Parapara mudflat, and
partly by Section 104; towards the East, three thou-
sand six hundred (3600) links, by Sections 71, 72, 75,
and 77 of Milnthorpe Suburban; towards the South,
three thousand six hundred (3600) links, by Crown
lands; and towards the West, three thousand six
hundred (3600) links partly by Section 96, and partly
by Subsection 1 of Section 193.
All that piece of land situate at Tauaro, West
Whanganui, containing by admeasurement one
hundred and fifty-five acres, more or less; bounded
towards the North by high watermark of the Pacific
Ocean; towards the East, four thousand nine hundred
and fifty (4950) links, by Crown lands; towards the
and towards the West, six thousand eight hundred
and twenty (6820) links, by Crown land.
All those pieces of land situate at the Croixelles,
in the Province of Nelson, containing in the aggregate
by estimation one thousand acres, more or less, and
known as the Whangarae and Okiwi Native Reserves,
bounded severally on one side by high watermark of
Croixelles Harbour, and on other sides respectively
by Crown land.

Tairua Licensing District Regulations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fifth day of October, 1875.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

HEREAS by the thirty-ninth section of "The
Licensing Act 1873 Amendment Act, 1874," it
is, among other things, enacted that, in order to
make provision for the granting of licenses on gold
fields and in outlying districts, it shall be lawful for the
Governor from time to time to proclaim any district
in any province of the colony, the boundaries whereof
shall be defined in such Proclamation, to be a special
licensing district, and the boundaries of such district
from time to time to alter, and to abolish any such
district:
Provided that it shall be lawful for the Legislature
of any province in which any such districts may be
proclaimed to provide and declare what fees shall be
payable for any such license; to attach conditions to
the exercise and duration of any such license, and
to impose upon the licensee such duties, liabilities,
and obligations as shall be thought fit; and, subject
to the said Act, to prescribe the forms, time, and
mode of granting any such licenses:
Provided further, that until any such Legislature
shall have passed any such Ordinance as aforesaid, it
shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to make
any regulations for all or any of the purposes for
which any such Ordinance may or can be passed under
or by virtue of the now reciting section, and all such
regulations shall be made with the consent of the
Superintendent of the province in which they are to
take effect, and shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette, and in the Gazette of the province in which
they are so to take effect:
And whereas, by a Proclamation dated the fourth
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five, a special licensing district, to be called
"The Tairua Special Licensing District," has been
constituted within the Province of Auckland:
And whereas the Legislature of the said province
has not passed any Ordinance for the purposes in.
the hereinbefore recited section mentioned, and it
is expedient that regulations should be made for such
purposes:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him in this behalf,
and with the consent of the Superintendent of the
said province, doth hereby make the following regu-
lations for the purposes aforesaid.
REGULATIONS.
- Licenses may be issued for the sale of alcoholic
liquors within the Special Licensing District of
Tairua upon payment of a fee not exceeding forty
pounds nor less than twenty pounds.
