Extension of Day for Election of Councillors for
the Borough of Nelson.
NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
seventh day of September, 1875.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the fifth section of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act Amendment Act, 1868,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that, within the
period of fifteen days before or after the day
appointed for the holding of any election, or of any
meeting of Councillors, or for the doing of any act,
matter, or thing by "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," hereinafter called "the said Act," required
to be done on or before a day certain, it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council to extend the
time allowed for the holding of such election, or
meeting of Councillors, or for the doing of any such
act, matter or thing, as aforesaid, notwithstanding
the day may have passed on which the same ought
to have been held or done, and adopt, or cause to be
adopted, such measures as may be necessary to re-
move any obstacle of a technical or formal nature, by
which the carrying out of the provisions of the said
Act may be impeded, and to supply any deficiency
which may be required to be supplied in order to
enable the said provisions to be duly carried out:
And whereas the notice required to be given by the
eighty-third section of the said Act, before the elec-
tion of Councillors for the Borough of Nelson, has
been omitted, and the second Thursday in this present
month of September is the day appointed by the said
Act for the election of Councillors:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of the above recited power,
and of all other powers enabling him, and by and
with the consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony, doth hereby, in lieu of the second Thursday
in this present month of September, appoint Friday
the twenty-fourth day of the same month, as the day
for the election of Councillors for the Borough of
Nelson, under the provisions of the said Act.

Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the
said Schedule mentioned, and set opposite the des-
criptions of the said parcels of land.

PROVINCE OF NELSON.
All that piece or parcel of land being the
north-west portion of Cape Foulwind, con-
taining about eighty-four acres, more or
less ; bounded towards the North-east,
North-west, and South-west by the Pacific
Ocean ; towards the South-east by a line
about 4320 links long, more or less, ex-
tending from beach to beach, and bearing
31Β° 40' East from magnetic North. Also,
all that piece or parcel of land situated at
Cape Foulwind aforesaid, including the
newly made branch road leading from the
above-described Lighthouse Reserve to a
point on the main road leading from West-
port to Charleston, the said point being
distant about 8000 links, more or less, from
the point at which the northern portion
of the said main road leaves the beach ;
bounded towards the North by Crown land,
towards the West by the above-described
Lighthouse Reserve ; towards the South
by Crown land ; towards the East by the
aforesaid main road between Westport and
Charleston, extending for a distance of one
chain on either side of the centre line of the
aforesaid branch road, and containing about
eleven acres, more or less.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council, at any time and from time to
time, to except from sale, and either reserve to Her
Majesty or dispose of in such other manner as for
the public interest may seem best, such of the waste
lands of the Crown in any of the provinces of the
colony as may be required for the purposes of
military defence, or for the construction of trunk
lines of road, or as sites for public buildings for
the use of the General Government, or for other
purposes of public utility or convenience :
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and pursuance of
the power and authority in that behalf vested in
him, doth hereby except from sale and reserve to Her
Majesty the several parcels of the waste lands of the

Province of Nelson.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the several parcels of
waste lands of the Crown particularly specified
and described in the Schedule hereunder written are
required for the purposes mentioned and set opposite
to the descriptions of the said parcels of land in
the said Schedule, and that the same has been
excepted from sale and reserved to Her Majesty by
the Order in Council bearing the date mentioned in
the second column of the said Schedule.
