Setting apart Native Reserves, Hutt District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The New Zealand Native
Reserves Act, 1856," it is, amongst other
things, provided that when any lands within the
jurisdiction of any Commissioners of Native reserves
shall have been or shall be reserved or set apart for
the benefit of the aboriginal inhabitants over which
the Native title. shall have been extinguished, such
Commissioners shall have and exercise over such
lands full power of management and disposition, sub-
ject to the provisions of that Act: And whereas by
"The Native Reserves Amendment Act, 1862," the
powers and duties of the Commissioners of Native
Reserves are transferred to the Governor, who may
by the provisions of the same Act delegate such
power and duties: And whereas the Native title of
the land mentioned in the Schedule hereunder written
has been extinguished, and it is desirable that its
management and disposition should remain with and
vest in the Governor or his delegate:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, doth proclaim and declare
that the land set forth in the Schedule hereunder
written has been set apart for the benefit of the
aboriginal inhabitants.

SCHEDULE.

SECTIONS Nos. 120 and 121, Hutt District; bounded
on the North by Section No. 122, 7,100 links (inter-
sected by two roads each 100 links wide); on the
East by Sections Nos. 218 and 217, Hutt District,
1574 links; on the South by part of No. 217 aforesaid,
633 links to the road from Wellington to Featherston,
crossing the road and following a bearing of 44° 53',
352 links, and on a bearing of 68°, 1 link, to a road
crossing that road and following a bearing of 68°,
1490 links; on the South by Section No. 119, Hutt
District, 4500 links, to the Hutt River; and on the
West by the Hutt River to the point of commence-
ment.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depend-
encies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of August, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
five.

Changing Purpose of Reserve in Westland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-fourth day of August, 1875.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Westland Waste Lands
Act, 1870," it is, among other things, enacted,
that reserves theretofore or thereafter to be made of
waste lands shall be managed and administered by
the Governor in Council: And it is also enacted
that the specified purposes for which any reserves
shall be held may be changed, and any such reserves
may be leased, mortgaged, or sold, either in whole or
in part, by the Governor in Council as therein men-
tioned: And whereas the parcel of land described
in the Schedule hereto was, on the date and in the
manner therein mentioned, declared to be a reserve
for the purposes therein set forth, and such reserve
is now subject to the provisions of the said Act:
And whereas it is expedient that the purpose of such
reserve should be changed:
