Notice to Superintendent of Site reserved for a Penal
Station.

NORMANBY, Governor.

TO JAMES MACANDREW, Esquire, Superintendent, of
the Province of Otago.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the parcel of
waste lands of the Crown particularly specified
and described in the Schedule hereunder written is
required for the purpose mentioned and set opposite
to the description of the said parcel of land in
the said Schedule, and that the same has been
excepted from sale and reserved to Her Majesty by
the Order in Council bearing the date mentioned in
the second column of the said Schedule.

All that parcel of land situ-
ated on the southern shore of
Dusky Sound, and bounded as
follows: Commencing at a point
on the shore of the said Sound,
due north of Mount Sparrman;
thence towards the East by a
right line to the summit of
Mount Sparrman; thence to-
wards the South-east by a right
line to the summit of Mount
Bradshaw; thence towards the
South by a right line due west
to the sea shore; and thence
by the sea shore and the shore
of Dusky Sound to the com-
mencing point. Together with
Resolution Island, Breaksea
Island, the Gilbert Isles, Entry
Island, Curlew Island, Heron
Island, Indian Island, Pigeon
Island, Parrot Island, and
Anchor Island, and the small
islands and groups of islands
adjacent thereto.
As a station
to be used for

and safe keep-
ing of male
offenders under
sentence of
penal servi-
tude.

WHEREAS by the regulations for the sale and
disposal of lands taken under the authority of
"The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," and
"The New Zealand Settlements Amendment and
Continuance Act, 1865," contained in the Schedule
to an Order in Council made and issued, bearing date
the 11th day of May, 1871, it is provided that reserves
for roads, and all other public purposes whatever, and
for education, and the sites for churches and chapels
or other places of worship for different religious
denominations, may be made by Government out of
any confiscated lands, and that notices of all such
reserves shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: It is hereby notified, that the land speci-
fied in the Schedule hereunder written shall be
reserved for the purpose therein mentioned, and set
opposite the description of the said parcel of land.

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND.
All that parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement one rood, more or less, being
Lot No. 248, in the Town of Richmond, in
the Bay of Plenty District, and being bounded
towards the North by Arawa Street, one
hundred and ninety-eight links; towards the
East and South-east by Clarke Street, fifty
and five-tenths links and one hundred and
forty links; towards the South-west by Lot
247, one hundred and seventy-seven links;
and towards the West by Lot 249, seventy-
eight links, as the same is more particularly
defined on the Record Map of the Town of
Richmond, deposited in the Office of the
Inspector of Surveys.

No. 11. "An Act to amend 'The Conveyancing Ordinance
Amendment Act, 1860;"'
No. 12. "An Act to enlarge the Powers of Municipal
Councils to make By-laws for the Regulation of
Hackney Carriages and Borough Stage Carriages,
and for other purposes;"
No. 13. "An Act to amend 'The Bankruptcy Act, 1867,',
by making other provision for the appointment of
Provisional Trustees, and authorizing Clerks of
District Courts to preside at Meetings of Cre-
ditors;"
No. 14. "An Act for the Abolition of Imprisonment for
Debt, and for other purposes;"
No. 15. "An Act to amend 'The Land Transfer Act, 1870,',
in respect to dealings with Lands granted under
the Native Lands Act;"
No. 16. "An Act to consolidate and amend the Waste
Lands Laws of the Province of Auckland;"
No. 17. "An Act to amend the Land Laws at present in
force in the Province of Hawke's Bay, and make
other provisions in lieu thereof;"
No. 18. "An Act to amend 'The Marlborough Waste
Lands Act, 1867;"'
No. 19. "An Act to regulate the Sale, Letting, Disposal,
and Occupation of the Waste Lands of the
Crown within the Province of Nelson;"
No. 20. "An Act to make provision for the better Ad-
ministration of Waste Lands of the Crown in
the Province of Otago;"
