THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
Bay of Plenty from Matata to Cape Runaway;
towards the South-east by a right line to the most
southerly source of the Opotiki River; towards the
South by a right line to the junction of the Ranga-
taiki and Whirinaki Rivers; and towards the West
by the Bay of Plenty District; together with Whale,
White, and other adjacent islands.
HAWKE'S BAY.
This district is bounded towards the North and
East by the sea from Cape Runaway to the southern
boundary of the Province of Hawke's Bay; thence
towards the South-west by a right line to the south-
western corner of the Bay of Plenty District; thence
towards the North and West by the boundaries of
the Bay of Plenty and Opotiki Districts to the com-
mencing point; together with the adjacent islands.
TARANAKI.
This district comprises all that portion of the Pro-
vince of Taranaki which lies to the southward of a
right line drawn from Paranihinihi to the south-
western corner of the Bay of Plenty District.
WHANGANUI.
This district is bounded towards the North-west by
the Taranaki District from the mouth of the Patea
River to the south-west corner of the Bay of Plenty
District; towards the North-east by the Hawke's
Bay District; and towards the South by a right line
from the southern corner of the Hawke's Bay Dis-
trict to the mouth of the Turakina River, and by the
sea to the mouth of the Patea River, the commencing
point.
WELLINGTON.
This District comprises all that portion of the
North Island which lies to the southward of the
Whanganui District; together with Kapiti, Mana, and
other adjacent islands.
SOUTHERN.
This district comprises the Middle Island, its
adjacent islands; together with Stewart's Island and
its adjacent islands.
Delegation under "The Prisons Act, 1873," to
Superintendent of Taranaki.

WHEREAS by the fifty-first section of "The
Prisons Act, 1873," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council may, under his hand and the
Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time delegate
to the Superintendent of any Province the powers
by the forty-seventh and fiftieth sections of the said
Act vested in the Governor, to be exercised within
such Province and not elsewhere, and may from time
to time in like manner rescind any such delegation:
Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me
by the said in part recited Act, do hereby, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, delegate
unto
FREDERIC ALONZO CARRINGTON, Esq.,
as Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, all
the powers vested in me by the forty-seventh and
fiftieth sections of the said Act, to be exercised
within such Province and not elsewhere.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this eighteenth
day of February, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
four.

The Limits of South Port.
JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.
IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose
vested by "The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,"
I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that
on and from the day of the date hereof, there shall
be within the Province of Otago, a Port, to be called
SOUTH PORT,
the limits whereof shall be as follows: - The South
or Stewart Island, with all the navigable waters in-
cluded therein, and extending to one league from
the coast thereof.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
