Cause of Death not known (supposed Typhoid Fever), 1.
The deaths from Zymotic Diseases are, by 9, more numerous than in August. The increase is chiefly occasioned by the
number of deaths from Influenza during September. 12 deaths occurred from this cause in September, none in August.
Of those 12 deaths, 11 occurred in Wellington. The deaths from Constitutional Diseases exceeded those in August by 1. The
deaths from Local Diseases were 8 more in number in September than in August. Heart Disease caused 6 deaths in September,
against 2 in August. There was only a difference of one in the number of deaths from diseases of the Respiratory System.
Of the 24 deaths from these diseases, 15 were caused by bronchitis of these 15, 7, or nearly one-half, occurred in Christchurch.
Several of the cases, however, in which the deaths are recorded as having been caused by Influenza, had also Bronchitis and
Pneumonia as accompanying complaints.
The weather still retained its exceptional character during the month, the rainfall having been, at all the stations south
of Auckland, very far in excess of the average for previous years.
