aforesaid, doth hereby direct that the said Order in person entitled to receive the balance, the value of
Council shall be and the same is hereby renewed.

In respect of Floating Balances.
- All floating balances at the credit of estates shall
bear interest at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum,
subject to the following provisions:-
(1.) Interest on the balance of each estate shall be
computed and allowed as to the 30th of Septem-
ber, the 31st of December, the 31st of March,
and the 30th of June, in each and every year, on
the minimum balance that shall have been at the
credit of such estate at any time during the
quarter ending on each of the days above men-
tioned; but no interest shall be allowed on any
estate in respect of which there was not a balance
in the office on the first day of such quarter.
(2.) No interest shall be allowed on any estate
which has not had a balance at credit amounting
to Β£50 at some period during the quarter.
(3.) Interest shall only be added to the balance at
credit of an estate, so as to form part of the
principal, on the 30th day of June in each and
every year.
(4.) When the balance at credit of an estate shall
be withdrawn, such interest shall be added thereto
as had accrued due up to the close of the quarter
next preceding such withdrawal.

Regulations for Payment of Interest in the Public
Trustees Account.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At Wellington, at Government House, this twenty-
fourth day of June, 1874.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the forty-seventh section of "The
Public Trust Office Act Amendment Act, 1873,"
it is enacted that all moneys in the Public Trustee's
Account, from whatever property arising, shall, except
as regards moneys as to which special provision is made
for the investment thereof by the trusts affecting the
particular property, be, for the purposes of invest-
ment, one common fund, and the investments thereof
shall not be made on account of or belong to any
particular property, unless the Governor shall other-
wise direct as to any particular property; and the
interest accruing from investment of such moneys
shall be divided amongst the properties from which
the fund arises in such manner and at such times and
in such proportions as shall be prescribed by regula-
tions to be made for the purpose from time to time
by the Governor in Council, and such regulations
shall have the force of law as if included in this
Act: And whereas it is expedient that Regulations
should be prescribed for the purposes in the said
recited section mentioned:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir James Fergus-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the power vested in
him by the said in part recited Act, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Colony, doth hereby order and
declare that, from and after the day of the publica-
tion hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the Regula-
tions set forth in the Schedule hereto shall be, and
the same are hereby prescribed, for the purpose of
providing in what manner, at what times, and in
what proportions, the interest accruing from the in-
vestment of moneys in the Public Trustee's Account
shall be divided amongst the properties from which
the fund arises: Provided that nothing contained
in such Regulations shall affect moneys as to which
special provision is made for the investment thereof
by the trusts affecting the particular property.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS for Payment of Interest on Balances of
Estates held in the Public Trust Office, where the
Instruments under which such Estates were vested
do not otherwise prescribe.
In respect of Sums to remain for a fixed Period.
-
Any sum exceeding Β£100, received on account
of an estate, which sum is not required to be with-
drawn for a period of not less than three years, shall
be invested, under the direction of the Board, in one
or other of the securities prescribed by section 25 of
"The Public Trust Office Act, 1872." -
All securities purchased as above shall be held
for the estate for which the investment was made; and
all interest received in respect of such securities shall
be added to, and form part of, the balance of such
estate. -
When the balance of any estate for which a
special investment shall have been made shall be
withdrawn, the securities shall be delivered to the
Fixing Sittings of District Court, Otago Gold Fields.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir
James Fergusson, Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of
the District Court of the Otago Gold Fields, during
the months of August and September next, shall be
held as follows :-
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Naseby
on the second Wednesday in August next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Clyde on
the Monday next after the second Wednesday
in August next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Queens-
town on the Monday second after the second
Wednesday in August next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lawrence
on the second Tuesday in September next.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the
Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the
first day thereafter, not being a holiday.
Issued this twenty-second day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Fixing Sittings of the Dunedin District Court.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir James
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of
the Dunedin District Court shall be held in the
Resident Magistrate's Court at Dunedin, on the last
Monday in each of the months of January, February,
March, April, May, June, July, August, October,
and November; the first of such sittings to be held on
the last Monday in July next:
