Lands proclaimed Waste Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS under the provisions of "The Immi-
gration and Public Works Act, 1870," the
Governor was empowered, from time to time, in the
name and on behalf of Her Majesty, to purchase or
in any way acquire any land in the North Island of
New Zealand, or any interests therein, which the
owners might be willing to sell, convey, or surrender,
as therein mentioned: And whereas by "The Immi-
gration and Public Works Act, 1873," it is enacted
that whenever the Governor' is satisfied that any
lands purchased out of the sums of two hundred
thousand (200,000) pounds and five hundred thousand
(500,000) pounds therein mentioned, are free from
Native claims and all difficulties in connection there-
with, he shall, by Proclamation, declare such lands
to be waste lands of the Crown, subject, except as
hereafter provided, to be sold and dealt with according
to the provisions of the laws for the time being in
force in the Province in which such land is, regulating
the sale and disposal of waste lands of the Crown
within such Province, and thereupon such lands so
proclaimed shall become subject to such provisions:
And whereas the lands described in the Schedule
hereto have been purchased out of the sum of two
hundred thousand (200,000) pounds, declared to be
applicable for the purchase of lands in the North
Island under the provisions of Part Four (IV.) of"The Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870:"
And whereas it is expedient that the said lands
should be declared to be waste lands, as hereinafter
set forth:
Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, being
satisfied that the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are free from Native claims and all difficulties
in connection therewith, in pursuance and exercise
of the power and authority vested in me by "The
Immigration and Public Works Act, 1873," do
hereby proclaim and declare the said lands to be
waste lands of the Crown, subject (except as by the
said Act is provided) to be sold and dealt with
according to the provision of the laws for the time
being in force in the Province of Auckland, regu-
lating the sale and disposal of waste lands of the
Crown within such Province.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
four.

ALL that parcel of land in New Zealand, being the
northern section of the Kaitaia Block, in the District
of Hokianga, in the County of Mongonui, in the
Province of Auckland, and containing five thousand
eight hundred and six (5806) acres. Bounded to-
wards the North by the Kaitaia River Reserve, three
thousand one hundred (3100) links, one thousand
five hundred and thirty-eight (1538) links, two thou-
sand six hundred and sixty-two (2662) links, again
by the Kaitaia River, and by lines six hundred and
forty (640) links, one thousand three hundred and
ninety-three (1393) links, two thousand one hundred
and ninety (2190) links, nine hundred and eighty-
three (983) links, five hundred and eighty-nine (589)
links, three hundred and eight (308) links, two thou-
sand two hundred and thirty-four (2234) links, one
thousand seven hundred and ninety (1790) links,
four thousand six hundred and forty-four (4644)
links, and nine hundred and seventy-seven (977)
links; towards the East by a stream; and again to-
wards the North by the Ruaroa Block, three thousand
two hundred and thirty-two (3232) links; again to-
wards the East by a line fifteen thousand eight
hundred and forty (15840) links; towards the South
by other portions of said Kaitaia Block, twenty-six
