PATENT for "A new and improved Method of
Smelting Magnetic and other Iron and Steel
Sands."
This is to notify, that THOMAS KENNEDY MACDONALD,
of Wellington, Accountant, and EDWARD METCALF
SMITH, of New Plymouth, Armourer and Artificer in
Metals, did, on the ninth day of March instant,
deposit at the office of the Patent Officer, in the
Colonial Secretary's Office, in Wellington, a specifica-
tion or instrument in writing under their hands and
seals, particularly describing and ascertaining the
nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the
same is to be performed. And that by reason of such
deposit the said Invention is protected and secured to
them exclusively for the term of six calendar months
thence next, ensuing.
And I do further notify, that the said Thomas
Kennedy Macdonald and Edward Metcalf Smith have
given notice in writing at my office of their intention
to proceed with their application for Letters Patent
for the said Invention, and that I have appointed
Friday, the twelfth day of June next, at eleven o'clock
in the forenoon, at my office, to hear and consider the
said application and all objections thereto. And I
do hereby require all persons having an interest in
opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave,
on or before the eighth day of June next, at my office
in Wellington, particulars in writing of their objec-
tions to the said application, otherwise they will be
precluded from urging the same.
Given under my hand this ninth day of March,

East Coast District Court.
NOTICE is hereby given, that during the year
1874, Sessions of the East Coast District Court
for the disposal of Criminal Business only, will be
held on the sixteenth days of the respective months
of May, July, September, and November, at ten
o'clock in the morning, in the Provincial Buildings,
at Napier; and during the like period Sessions of
such Court for the disposal of Civil Business only,
will be held in the said Provincial Buildings, at
Napier, on the second and seventeenth days of each
month, at ten o'clock in the morning; also at the
Court House, at Waipawa, in said District, on the
sixth day of May, eighth day of July, ninth day of
September, and eleventh day of November respec-
tively, at ten o'clock in the morning; and also at
the Court House at Gisborne, in said District, on
the thirteenth day of May, nineteenth day of August,
and twenty-fifth day of November respectively, at
ten o'clock in the morning.

Memorandum of Association, establishing a Com-
pany with limited liability of the shareholders therein,
intituled
"The Otago Turkish Baths Company, Limited;"
the objects for which the said Company is established
being "the establishment of Turkish and other
Wash-houses, and Laundries in Dunedin and
elsewhere in the Province of Otago aforesaid, and
the doing all such other things as are incidental or
conducive to the attainment of the above objects."
And I further notify, that, in pursuance of
"The Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860," I have
issued a Certificate of Incorporation of the said
Company, bearing date the twenty-fifth day of
March, 1874.

tended to be made at the next Session of the
General Assembly of New Zealand for leave to bring
in a Bill to amend "The Dunedin Waterworks Act,
1864," "The Dunedin Waterworks Act Amend-
ment Act, 1866," and "The Dunedin Waterworks
Act Amendment Act, 1871:" And notice is hereby
also given, that by the said Bill so to be introduced
as aforesaid it is intended to increase the capital of
the Dunedin Waterworks Company from £65,000
to £115,000, by the issue of 5,000 new shares of £10
each: And notice is hereby also given, that a copy
of the said Bill so to be introduced as aforesaid will
be deposited and open for inspection in the office of
the Honorable the Colonial Secretary at Wellington,
in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands in
Dunedin, and the Private Bill Office, Wellington
aforesaid, on or before the twenty-third day of May
next.
